Yikes! The conspiricy theory lover in me says they didn't fit the pump as it was more labour but no added cost...but I am a paranoid so-and-so.
My PPP is over 3 weeks old and came with a pump..Rum and Josh had them over a month ago complete with pumps. Very strange!
C
edit - Oops I jsut realised you've just had the PPP fitted today so no reason they should lie to you. Recalls have gone out for STI7 PPP's, maybe they were fitting STI7ppp to STI8s? Weird!

Just spoke to my dealer who is fitting PPP as I write this. I asked him about spluttering under cornering/acceleration on low fuel. He says he'll get his guys to have a look while they FIT A NEW FUEL PUMP !!.

I said hmmmmm that wasn't part of the upgrade ... he said just been told by prodrive in last 2 weeks to do it and RECALL PREVIOUS UPGRADES.

If you've got a STI8 with PPP go phone the dealer now.

The fuel pump upgrade was standard on all MY03STI PPP kits. It's listed on all the bumph (brochure/website etc)

you are absolutley correct.

1. i didn't spot that and it wasn't mentioned by dealer.
2. have no idea why he just told me it was something new in last 2 weeks and they were recalling.

maybe Welch group in cambridge haven't been doing it !!

i'll speak to him again.

just off the phone. confirms original story.

says only been told by prodrive in last 3 weeks to fit performance fuel pump. I said that the subaru website clearly says upgraded fuel pump - he says he knows what he knows ... and when did they update the website!

he says they are recalling all sti7/8 ppp upgrades done up until last 3 weeks.

Butting in mode...
PPP is £1995 incl.
Cliche mode...
It completely transforms the car. Power comes in much earlier and stays right up to the redline.
Controversial mode...
Frankly I don't rate the UK STI8 without it, complete;y gutless below 4k revs and 5th n 6th gears are just overdrives.
Saying that I came from a 'classic' STI so I was used to more power and a better torque curve than the UKspecSTI8 offered.

No, for £1,600 you can get it for MY03 WRX - this takes BHP up to 263ish? and torque about the same. It's then pretty much exactly same power as a standard UK STI and has far better power delivery than standard STI.

Oldie I have a MY02 WRX, so £1600 doesn't sound too much for the extra power

mwp,

Let's be nice and say your dealer is mistaken. He may know what he knows, but what he knows is wrong.

I was fortunate enough to be the second person in the UK to get a PPP fitted to a private STi8, and the fuel pump has been part of the STi8 PPP from day one.

On the other hand, in the last few weeks the STi7 PPP has been recalled to have a new fuel pump fitted.

josh,

maybe he's getting confused with the sti7 "recall".

in any case he knows what to do to put it right and more importantly he's got mine right (i hope).

mark.

ask dealer i guess. unless one of the more technically minded minded souls on the tech threads can tell you how to spot the difference.

Could be wrong here, but was watching as the dealer finished off my PPP install yesterday.

The standard fuel pump colour is cream and the performance pump is black, apart from that they both looked exactly the same.

Its in the fuel tank, and all you would not see it without removing lots of stuff.
