Good move, getting the PPP from new. In addition to the advice about running it in, I suggest you take time out to get used to the handling before you nail it..... it WILL be different from the TVR, and from the Clio (tho' possibly less so). Be advised, also, that Scoobies take a while to loosen up..... You'll probably not get peak performance 'til you've done about 6000 miles. We're only talking about the fine edge, tho'

Most of the chat on here is about the old scoobys. What do you guys think of the new STI? I have just bought one with the new lights and a couple of dealer fitted performance mods. I pick it up Monday or Tuesday of next week. Is she gonna be good? Its my first Scooby. The tvr and the Clio 172 have had to go to make way for it. Good or bad choice???

I wouldnt have a clue what an STI 8 is to be honest with you. She is a UK spec car with 265BHP as standard and then some dealer fitted parts taking it to 290-300 gee gees i think.
She is a 2003 new model with the new style lights etc. Does that make it an STI 8?

Yeah the TVR is going, hasnt gone yet but its going.

The Clio 172 has gone, or will when i pick STI up anyway. But dont fret I have another Clio 172 at home as well, haha. I think im just plain greedy.

 

Sounds like quite a good buy, especially on impulse!

 

Standard STi type UK has 265ps (262bhp) and the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) ups that to 305ps (300bhp+)

On a more serious note - **be sure** to read the posts here (and in the manual) on running in the engine ! It's gonna hurt for a short while but once the running in period is over...let the REAL fun commence.

Enjoy it...well, don't really need to say that - enjoyment is guaranteed ! Oh, and be sure to add the following phrases to your vocabulary:

"all hell breaks loose about 3800rpm"

"in the twisties"

"PPP"

"grinning like an idiot from ear to ear"



Does your local petrol station have special discounts for regular customers? If so, apply immediately - them there STi's are thirsty beasts and you can't help but drive them so they want more and more go-go juice (I average about 19/21 mpg).

Look at the sunday times last weekend and a write up on the motor...it kicks the Evo into touch.

Cheers for the replies on here fellas. The grin is starting to widen on me face. Sounds like i have made a good choice and thats all that matters. To hell with the expense, you only live once i say. Still havent let the TVR go yet. I love it and may decide to keep it yet.
As for the guy who was talking about 19/21 mpg im used to that with Tivvy. Well alot less to be honest.

I have seen a few cars on here with the black tinted windows. How and where do you go to get that done? Im in the south near basingstoke. Anywhere near me? and how much?

Just waiting to get me personal plate transfered over and then its mine, which incidently i got a pull from the boys in blue for illegally spaced letters. Luckily they let me off. What tivvy did you have?

 

I got my tints on my P1 done at a place in Chertsey, just by Heathrow. They did a fantastic job. They were called something like Old School window tints or something that that.

Check out 192 or the web you may be able to find it.
