what is the BHP of the STI8 ??

265 in standard trim an UK spec. I doubt many will stay at that though

Forget bhp its power to weight which is the important factor.

At 1470kgs you are looking at

261 it makes 178/ton
305 it makes 207/ton
340 it makes 231/ton

MY00 UK Classic Turbo (215)was 174/ton
PPP MY00 Uk Classic Turbo (240) was 194/ton
PPP MY01 UK WRX (245) was 178/ton

So basically on paper performance there is not alot between a standard UK classic turbo, a PPP UK WRX and a standard STi8.

chrisp. Interesting figures but IMHO......

When you equate this figures to road performance, its a bit more complicated than simply max bhp and torque, a better guide is the "area under the curve" on a dyno map, a "spikey" high peak bhp, while good headline getting stuff has little to do with actual road performance, whereas a long flatish wide rev band high torque curve certainly would.

I agree power to weight ratios have a large impact that certainly favour the classic cars, STI7 and 8 are really to heavy in all honesty IMHO and this loses them some agility on the twisty stuff.

This is all rather academic as the diferances on the road are small
enough to barely show even on a track day. Brakes suspension set up tyres and driver abilty/commitment are much bigger factors.

That why I tried to use standard cars as example they tend to be more driveable and have proven power figures from an engine dyno. Its also well known that the new STI seem to pick up about 4000rpm requiring a few more revs.
