Someone must know how to remove the speed limiter on an Automatic WRX. Standard delimiter ( ie cable drive ) does not fit the auto. The car uses a cable and is in one part not split. Any one got any ideas.

Regards
Ed.

I think replacing the ecu would work but the dash would still only read to 112Mph (180Kph), would like the dash to read the true speed. Thanks for the idea anyway.

Ed,
Calibrate your speed from the rev counter... or keep your eyes on the road!
I would guestimate the needle grounds out on the bottom of the dial at about 190, and remains there until the speed drops below... Didn't manage to break the dial...

Nice idea BarkingMad, I have an extra lockwood dail that reads upto 180Mph and would like to fit it and show the correct speed. Was thinking of get the standard delimiter and the split 2 pc speedo cable and trying that. Must be more idea's out there. someone must have done an automatic before. I know there thin on the ground, but come on, someone somewhere must have the answer.

Does the speedo only go to 112?? No.

if its cable drive then the speedo will move to whatever the car is doing...

So...

ECU Mod.

The gearbox pickup is a small gear set to rotate in KPH so the normal conversion kit takes 1 turn of the cable and gives a output of .6 of a turn (approx) then speedo head has a pickup sensor that detects when the speedo reads 180KPH ((180 Mph after the delimiter fitted) or I think it maybe max deflection ) and activates ether a fuel cut off or ignition cut off ( not sure which) end effect is like hitting a brick wall. if you just deactive the speedo head pickup then ecu goes into limp home mode. ie no boost. but the cable in the automatic and the standard car are not the same. 2 pc in the standard 1 pc in the automatic. Was toying with the idea of getting a new cable and then cutting the old one into 2 pc's and jerry rigging the standard delimiter to fit.

ECU MOD!

You not listening??

Ill give you a clue...

Speed limiter - 86C7:86C9 1byte x3 (value = half the speed in Kh, the 3 values give a progressive limit as per the rev limiter 3 values work out to be 162,167,170mph)

Mail me.

but would the speedo still only read to 112mph (180kph) or would the kph scale become mph ie shows 30kph and means 30mph.

Ed (with fingers crossed).
