Question

Ok....just read the autometer fitting instructions....switched live and good vehicle earth are easily achieved but I don't want to destroy a lambda sensor....so.....

My car is a 95 wrx so can anyone answer the following (based upon the fitting instructions):-

1/ Does it have a heated or non-heated lambda sensor?
2/ If it is heated, is it 3 or 4 wire and which wire do I connect the AFR to?
3/ If it is non-heated, is it 1 or 2 wire and which wire do I connect the AFR to?

Thanx in advance,

Dave

Thanx Dan.....however, not being of a mind to mess about with an ecu where would I connect it outside of the ecu?!?!?!?

I'm not planning on fitting my new gauges etc. until the weekend so you've all got just over 4 days

Now be good lads and off you go to find me that answer LOL

Please

Dave

I was exactly the same but decided from advice on here to fit it properly at the ECU, as there could be interferance from the engine on the gauge e.t.c.... You want the white wire (i think) at the o2 sensor.. you can tap into the wire at a much better place than the sensor itself. This is just under the coolant header tank where the three wires (i think) come up from the sensor and meet a connector.. The wire runs right next to the rocker cover on the left of the engine as you look at it..

Cheers Dan.....I was intending to trace the cables up through the engine bay to finf a better connection point than the sensor itself.....I think autometer actually state that in the instructions.

So....you think it's the white wire eh? I'm with you at the moment (not having any alternative ) .....can anyone else confirm this????

Nice one Dan....you're a top bloke

...judging by the time between our posts this evening you do however spend FAR too much time on here (damn....guess that applies to me as well ) LOL

Once again many thanx Dan....I might even get my new gadgets fitted before the weekend now

Question

One last quick thought....presumably the red and black from the Lambda sensor are Live and negative (or am I being far too presumptious??)....so I could connect ALL the cables from the AFR gauge to those??????

Fitted mine to the white wire by the ecu as well (93wrx). Not too difficult plus it's got the added benefit of being protected from the elements. Not had any problems with it

White wire it is then

Think I'll take my live from the stereo as it should be a live switched by the ignition (otherwise the AFR gauge would have a constant live going to it )

Thanx for the help chaps

I considered a lambda link and knock link but ended up thinking that the AFR gauge was aesthetically more pleasing in the car as opposed to the little lambda link box.

Will prob still get a knock link though
