Thumbs up

Two recent AP22 power runs from Harveys rapid Sti6.

The runs were in different directions hence the difference in power recorded.

This was a gentle start 1st and 2nd then a 3rd gear full power 'roll on' from low speed and into 4th gear.

The gearing on this car has been changed and hence is not typical Sti.

Average of 388 bhp at the wheels equates to approx 477 flywheel horsepower........not bad for a daily driver

Cool

If the 2.5 can retain the volumetric efficiency of a 2.0 then we are looking at 477 x 25/20 = 596bhp

I wait with baited breath

He drives this round daily!!! Top man. Very nice

I take it he has spent a fortune on it?! He should make an article or word document what he has done. Will be interesting to read

IIRC he has done over 20,000 miles on this Roger Clark Motorsport built engine which has an iON Performance turbo
The full spec is on the TyneTees Subaru web site, don't have a link I'm afraid.

It also has an open deck block, so is doubtless on the edge of exploding into a 1000 pieces

Nice one Harvey.

This looks like a fast wagon... and looks nice, even under bonnet.

But what is the purpose of the 6 Port Boost Solenoid ???

6 Port? Eh

Or is that 2x3port solenoids for twin turbos?

If its for a single turbo application, what the hell do the other 3 ports do? I can't think of any

Hi Andy: Just seen this. Thanks for posting.
Paul: I now have a closed deck block so I can start again and incorporate further developments. Looks like I will buck the trend (again) and stay with 2 litres (2016cc) as I am sure there is lots more potential from the EJ20 and it will be possible to build a high reving engine. Bearing in mind that up to last October 360/380bhp was around the ceiling for most high power Scoobies things have come on a long way pretty quickly.
It will be very interesting to see the results from bigger capacity engines and how they perform on the road/track. Should be a few around soon as they have been in the melting pot for some time.

Question

Shouldn't the power between gears be zero if the roll resistance and CdA values are correct? It seems to me that the power is about 75bhp off at 100mph. Or am i completely missing something here?

Pete,

yeah, you are right, the power figures should be negative between the gears, since the car will be decellerating, so something is a litte amiss with the figures....

Cheers,

Pat.

negative power due to decelleration?

maybe due to no drive, but just because it's decellerating that doesn't mean there's no power, just less power than that required to overcome the drag.

I think it's a lack of response from the AP22 more than anything.

The 'base line' trace on the AP22 is the calculated power (from Cd, frontal area and rolling drag) to maintain that velocity. You will see it does not increase linearly with mph. Ie just to hold that mph steady requires bhp, in this case, between gears, momentum is effectivly providing the power to move the car.

Andy

Christian - Can you make me up one of them but change the scale to 800

Andy.F > if you want to purchase me a turbo capable of 800bhp, and get it remapped, and pay for my boat over, and trip to power engineering to get it dynoed then yeah ok!
