Question

Hi all

I'm thinking about going for a new scoob, but can't decide on a UK or EU car.

With the exchange rate at the moment being crap and the 5 month wait I'm wondering if it's still worth while.

I have seen on here that EU cars still need serviced every 7500 miles, is that still every 6 months or can you go a year between each service (I do 8k a year)

Is there anywhere I can get a cheaper MY03 without the wait.

Cheers

Thumbs up

Agreed about the exchange rate - I ordered mine back in November so got it fixed price for 16700 all in (inc. alarm). Arrives in a fortnight .

Apparently Subaru Benelux have changed the service interval of the MY03s to match the UK spec - 10000 miles/12 months.

It is possible to get an EU import quicker if you want to pay a little more - still get some savings, but only a 4-8 week wait (but might be difficult at the moment - MY03 looks to be popular).

If thats right about the service intervals being extended, that may just sway me.

So the MY03 is popular, I guess the Evo mag review helped entice more than just me back to scoob ownership then!! Can't wait to hear about the PPP on the WRX

My advice - get an EU one and save yourself some money to buy something nice to go with it

Thanks Nigel those links were good

So what it now comes down to is am I willing to wait around 6 months for a 2 grand saving (1.45 Euro to pound).

Bearing in mind I will have to sell my current car and buy a cheap run around until the import arrives, and that I can't fit the PPP
I may Buy UK.

Is everyone paying £20000 for UK cars or can you get the dealers down on that?

I got my MY03 STi8 in Germany in January and can confirm that the service interval is 1yr.

The exchange rate is a big question at the moment, with the new UK prices being inline with Europe, particularly when you consider CAT1 and Tracker in UK, and the exchange rate is looking set to fall!

I only really made a saving (about £2K) against the UK price 'cos of all the extras I fitted, and that was when the exchange rate was 1.53! Thats also not taking into account the grand or so I would need to spend to fit the CAT1 and Tracker if I brought it back to the UK.

My advice - Be very carefull!!!

Al.

WRX doesn't have a tracker, STI's do I think you'll find.

If you ever want to buy an import you have to sell privately anyway...
