Question

*sorry mods if this is in the wrong forum*

I am getting increasingly paranoid about the security of my newly aquired Scoob . Just last night (11pm ish), by coincidence, I caught a ****** going out of his way to walk around the passenger side of my car (hard to explain but please take my word for it). The car does attract lots of interest.

It's parked just off a main road on a grass verge outside my flat, some 30 ft away from my front door. The area is very accessible to all as a public footpath is right next to the grass verge. The footpath is well used and is frequented by some d1ckheads as unfortunately the area I live in is fairly close to a very rough area.

The car is cat 1 alarmed/immobilised. It's got a Tracker. What else can I do?

Outside security light? Detachable steering wheel?

I'm most worried that'll someone will just whack it onto a trailer and drive off with it...

Ideas please?

Move.

Not a lot else you can do to be honest- although a proximity sensor on the alarm would probably work well.
Maybe some light security tints?

Security tints as someone has suggested , disklok , deadlock for doors and i think someone does a deadlock for the gear , keeps it in reverse i think.

A nice big yellow disclok to discourage those that may try it on,and to lessen the risk of smash'n'grab leave the glovebox open and empty ,esp if you have in dash cd player.

Buy a Yale wireless alarm (HSA3500) from Homebase, around £200 and stick a PIR in the car. That way your house alarm will sound if anyone gets in it and you can run over and deal with them! Baseball bat etc, etc. The PIR's work upto 30 metres from the control box, so you should be OK 30ft away.

I have had no false alarms, from either the car or house PIR's, so reliability of wireless systems seems to have improved.

Hope this helps.

Dan

i think

"light" ... being the choice of tint

"security tints" ... being the variety that dont break the window if they are smashed by hammer and other sorts of smashing tools.
