Swimming pool in the spare wheel well
I had the same problem with my new sport in December. Hadn't been sealed properly so very fast drips through the spoiler bolts. Sorted under Warranty (another GX sport with the same problem in at the same time). Now dry as a bone... :]
i found my MY97 over steaming up on all the rear glass etc.. the back window would bead up really bad with droplets of water.
took it back in under warranty in '99.
they said they new what the problem was... seals on the rear light clusters letting water in!
watr too was in the spare wheel well... not bad but enough to creat bad condensation!
the seals were not the problem!
but
the car had had a toe bar on and reamoved before i bought the car!
the holes for the wiring had not been sealed! so... thats were the water was coming in.

You didn't say what year your car is, but I would put money on it being your light cluster's sealing breaking down. The next time its been raining open the boot and pad all around the lower inner edge of the clusters with something like toilet roll (this will highlight any water quickly).
The only real cure is to remove them, clean the old sealant off and re-seal them in with some silicon sealant from your local diy store.
Ps. Getting the lights off is not an easy job, you need to undo the Bolts (about 4 or 5, 10mm heads I think)then as you prise the lights away cut the sealant with scalpel or something similar. Next, take a couple of hours cleaning all the old stuff off, before refitting.

I had exactly the same after some rear-end work on the back of the Scoob. The car was back-ended and the rear was replaced. Leaked like a leaky thing, and was solved by resealing the light clusters and lowering the boot on the hinges. The boot now compresses the rubber seals more (a tad more than I'd like, TBH) but it doesn't leak.
