I was once waiting on a trafic light when a police car stops beside me, also waiting for green. We drove into the traffic for about 10 min, side by side. Then when we drove back on normal cruise speed, he made the sign to go flat out. I hesitate but at the next light he opened his window and asked me to push the pedal to the metal; I was a little surprised but on the onther side, wat the f*ck. So I made a blitz start and roled then untill the cops were beside me, we pulled over and he says : "Wel boy, if we have to follow one of these, we better start praying."
I continued my way and get a big smile from them. Not all cops are cr*p you know !!

lol! We've had that before - was only a little VW though and not a cool BMW Caused a bit of a stir in the Mc Donalds Drive Through when I was queued behind some boy racer Seat's - quite funny when they all started hanging out the window with their thumbs up and revving their engines ...I couldn't help it, I had to oblige with a blast of the scooby with full decat

I was at some lights in Harrogate one day next to their ppp'd Scoob. Mr plod gave a couple of stabs on the loud peddle followed by a grin. I gave him the same back full decat style with a matching grin.
End of story - no race

lol@ all the stories!

i was stopped in traffic in a nearby town the other day, lollipop lady, nippers crossing and i could hear the words "subaru" and "scooby" uttered. then one of them goes "nice car mate" and a couple of others chorous "yeah, nice car!"

felt a bit embarassed, but at the same time quite a rude bwoy!

last night after djing at a local club/bar, came out side with records and a few mates and got in car. big crowd of people outside bar i have just played and late night pub, which has just kicked out next door. start the beast (decat scooby sport system)and the whole place just looked round

said goodbyes to other mates, couple of pissed people dribbling compliments in the window of the car. thought, bu6ger this, attracting to much unwanted attention. proceeded to leave, dumpvalve dumping gently of course! much gawping - all part of the fun eh?

i must admit i look at other subarus and see whats been done to the car and its good to see other people appreciate the time and money spent but theres a few subaru drivers out there that think they drive a ferrari, i seen one plick try to pull away at the lights while looking around to see who was looking at him, then he missed a gear, then accelerated away a fast as he could, only to get stuck at the next lights where he looked to see who was watching him again.

people open the windows and say things like:
hey, old man you need a shave
is your exhaust broken?
is your car stealth?

NO, I AM NOT AN OLD MAN, i'm 21 years old
NO, MY EXHAUST IS NOT BROKEN
NO, THE PAINT IS S*H*I*T*E

"Stealth" exhaust? Is this a standard bug-eye then?

That's got me thinking - anyone know how loud/quiet the standard '03 is? Better or worse than the bug-eyes? I'd never buy a bug-eye, but given several years or an absolute tonne of money I might consider an '03 STI (perhaps something else in between that and my classic MY00 Turbo)

Funny you should mention it - since Friday I've had an "incident" a day so this post is surprising, interesting and funny to read.

On the way home on Friday I pulled up to a red light. Guy in the next lane in a Mondeo won't stop staring, so after I look round at him for the third time he mouths at me "NICE car!". Saturday I'm picking up my kid at the ski lifts and am getting all sorts of stares and nods and one guy turns round and just says flat out "Those Subarus are really beautiful motors". Today I'm again picking up the kid from his ski club and am heading back down the mountain slowly trying to avoid hitting folks...one girl leans right over and goes "borb, borb, borb, borb" in my face and then gives a big smile - she was making the flat4 sound of the engine.

Scoobies - gotta love 'em - everyone else does!!!

A guy in a Civic Type R followed me for ages once then at the lights he was giving the thumbs up etc, big grin on his face etc. I was quite chuffed getting that from a lad in a good car himself!

was at 'west quay' shopping centre in southampton yesterday. did the shopping thing and returned to the car. was parked in the multi storey so the decat was throbbing extra loud with the echo, on exiting the car park some kid was sat next to the pay machines staring at some chicks, obviously heard the rumble of the flat four coming, turned his head, checked the motor and stated nodding as if to say "nice, very nice".

once i got round the next corner me and the missus just looked at each other and burst out laughing.

is cool though to have a car that attracts attention in the right manner

It can be quite cool to be acknowledged, and embarrassing at the same time. I've heard a few 'its an Impreza!' and points of the finger. Best is when people smile just for seeing the car - worth it for that alone.

Before the Scooby I was a 'Mondeo Man', a lovely 2.0 Ghia X, leather etc, not surprisingly, I was the only one who ever noticed it!
Got a new WRX November 2001, since then my kids always ask to be picked up from parties, cinema etc , by me, as long as I'm in it.
As with others, my two girls, 13 and 15 are now being chased by the village *******!!!!!
Nice though , when a group call for either of them and I answer the door, always the same, 'love your car, is she in?
Everyone loves a Scooby, including my wife who says she hates it!

Kids are the best, drive through any supermarket car park, look in your mirror and you can see parents struggling to drag their kids at arm length with them looking round for another glimpse.

Got an interesting story. was being tailed v closely by an audi tt so after ten mins thought id had enough sped off on the a40 for him to dissapear into the distance golf vr6 then joins in the chase so i so i again speed up for a junction then slow only to be over taken by a guy with a huge grin on his face.Egging me on to go again i oblidgefor one junction then undertake for two jct till time to come off,guy in vr6 pulls up behind and puts his flashing blue undercover police lights on. It ends up that he lets me off cause his fault also but reminds me that there r alot of under cover cops on roads driving all sorts of cars and to watch it.at least he was decent,im only 24 and love the attention i get from all cars and many young kids to old kids hehe .

no one ever notices my Astra!

I know what you mean though, I was at a charity do on evening, making polite conversation with my mates 10yr old lad when a UK 300 goes past, "Wow!, thats a Subaru, I'm gonna have one of those as soon as I pass my test" - I thought I'd best not disillusion him by telling him he'd find it hard to get insured on a scoob as a first car!!

I have a couple of stories that always make me smile

I was turning out of a residential area on to the main road and to my right this guy was washing his Escort and his young daughter (8 or 9) was helping, once she see's the scoob she stops washing and shouts over nice car mister, being slightly embarassed I say nothing then she shouts it out again, without wishing to be rude I looked round and said thanks, by now Dad was a little peeved that his little girl has stopped helping and was more interested in the scoob and says to her come on it wont wash its self

On another occassion i was coming home round the north circ (late evening) and this guy had been right up my pipe in his Megane, as we approached the lights which were red he darted up my inside, so here we are both in pole position he keeps looking over and reving his engine, lights go green the scoob pings off the line and all i can hear are two front wheels beside me spinning like mad, a little wave is given by me in a dont take the p1ss kind of way, we get to the next set of lights is about 1/4 of a mile and im turning off for the A1 but Mr Megane has finally caught up and is waving his arms about shouting at me to try it again, did he think there would be a different outcome, I just looked over and laughed
