Unhappy

Gave the car a good wash and pampering today, and took a good look round for any new blemishes etc.
I knew the bottoms of the drivers and passenger doors were a little chipped, but today they looked awful

For about three quarters of the way along each side, underneath the lower 'bulge' on the door, and along where the side skirts normally are, theres what looks like a sprayed on light coloured mud, but it actually ALL seems to be light chips!!

Ive not done ANY off road or, gravel type driving at all, but do notice my tyres seem to pick up a lot of stones off otherwise normal roads for some reason...

Tried polishing them out today to no avail.
Looks like I'll have to get the local 'Chips Away' equivalent to take a look, but is there any sort of protectant I can use on the bottom of the doors once theyre sorted?

Or will it be a case of getting some 'flap' action!?

Any ideas?

Cheers
Mark...

I did the same thing yesterday

clean & waxed my car, and was gutted to find two stone chips on the bonnet

and a couple of scratches on the door

Thing is with our cars is that we aren't paying for the paint job. Subarus do mark easily. My bonnet and front valance are peppered in stone chips. Prob. 12 months down the line will need a respray.

I'm thinking of fitting Armourfend on my Sti8. That should stop some of the chips ?

Think there maybe a web site

I am seriously considering this armourfend stuff but as clingfilm goes it's pretty expensive!!!!

Probs cheaper than a piant job though.

Thumbs up

I had Armourfend fitted to the front of my car. It does work and I can recommend it

approx £300.00 mate, but it depends on how much of the car you want to cover

According to what they quoted me and assuming i take the car to them £300 would buy you -

The bonnet, bumper, wing ends and grill infill!!!

Heres my quote

SU/3310/4 Front Bumper £75.00
SU/3310/5 Grille Infill £10.00
SU/3310/9 Wing Ends (Pair) £15.00
Subtotal of above parts (exclusive of VAT at 17.5%) £175.00
Installation charges £105.00

must have paid a bit more then as I had the wing mirrors done as well and the rear bumper.
Plus they came to me as they were going to a dealership in the area so they got the bill for travelling not me
When you say front bunper, that includes the front spoiler as well I take it. Have noticed that the price of the bonnet has gone up £25.00since I had mine done 12 months ago, plus you can get an SIDC discount of 5%

Mark,

Just drive your car round one of the many muddy plantations!

Lots of mud sticking to your car, protecting the paintwork, much cheaper than Armourfend.

Also has the added bonus of making the car 'look' like how it's meant to be driven.

The one just past Mount Murray, can't remember the real name, but its something like chubernubba

You can drive into it and park the car for a stroll, but providing DAFF arn't chopping trees you can ave a blat on the muddy paths.

If the STi wasn't AWD, it would have needed towing by a Landy. It was a bit of fun though.

Took your advice on the plantation blat today STI MAN!
Found the 'top entrance'. It was a bit rough and stony but what fun it was, and the car? sheesh it was muddy!!!

Had to go to the (polar) jetwash straight after!

Also, think I saw you in the pimp(tint)mo-beel on my way up there too at the Cooil roundabout...but may have been mistooken!

Question

Is Armourfend noticable on your motor or is it 'invisible'?

The bonnet section is noticeable and so are the wing ends, wing mirrors.
The front spoiler isn't.
But if it does the job what the hell and it does
