Bit of a mechanical question for you guys who know your stuff.

Having a little prob with my UK Turbo T-reg 55,500miles. I am having a slight dip in power between 3 and 4 thousand revs when accelerating reasonably hard, it can be a bit worrying if i am overtaking etc. This doesnt happen all the time and when it does it is generally when the car is a coldish, ie. say within the first 5 miles of a journey. Is my turbo on the way out???!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Regards,

Dunc.

Sounds like fuel starvation (or clutch slippage )

try changin the fuel filter, cost about £35 for a new 1 from Subaru and takes minuetes to fiy.

beware of the time delay fuel release when you take the old one off, make sure you plug the pipe.

Mike

Could be the wastegate control unit bolted on o/s front inner wing!
Does the car seem to judder aggresively for a couple of seconds and then accelerate ok again?

at 55k miles, you will be coming up to a plug change. Could be the plugs or coil. It made loads of difference to my car when I changed the plugs!

The clutch is another likely problem, as it feels like you're losing power, however you will see the revcounter jumping high when the clutch slips. (it won't feel exactly like power loss, but close to it)

Er at risk of being paranoid although that is inevitable with scoobs 4000rpm sounds a bit steep if u have only done 5 miles. Suppose it depends how slow etc u have been goin in that 5 miles but dont sound like the oil wood b fully up2 temperature in just 5 mile? My trip 2 work is about 8 miles & i barely get 2 use the turbo wot with warm up & cool down factor OK i use the turbo a bit
Unlikely 2 b owt 2 do with any problems yer having but just fort id mention it

Thanks for the replies guys

oh my Don’t give it a boot full from cold as mentioned above not an healthy thing to be doing, but on the odd times when I have had to put the foot down to pull away I have suffered from loss of power for an instant.

Definitely not clutch spin

Thanks for the advice will invest in a set off plugs

Cheers Mick
