Just got this notice from the company bringing me a TypeR in from Japan.
------------------------------------------------------
YR 2000 STI6 V-LTD 15,000 MILES GRADE 5 A

DOESNT GET ANY BETTER...LIKE BRAND NEW!

BUT IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE...

WE RECKON THE MAX COST OF CAR ON ROAD IS £17,000
------------------------------------------------------

I have picture, it is identical to the one Gez was selling apart from the fact that it has one of them large air intakes on the roof. Aparently the scouts in Japan said its is perfect. White glove around the engine bay reveals no dirt : )

i personally think you can get one cheaper. Im sure people have been trying to get these in and some have picked them up for about £13k.

For that amount of money, you could buy a p1!

but its very difficult to find one. The fact that this is a v-limited makes a little more appealing to me.

I don't want a P1, I don't like the kit as much, and the specs arn't as good.

All the Jap cars I compaired to the equivelant UK cars are of much higher spec. This has completly put me off the UK market. Does anyone know why they are down on power etc, in comparison?
Is it down to our god damn government again, interfering?

You very rarely see these cars in the magazines and they look superb,I have seen one from NEW ERA IMPORTS recently and it was up for £19,999 so if you can get a one for around 17k I would go for it. I personally would pay extra for a good spec car with the right miles etc etc and would rather have a one of these instead of the P1 for maybe the same money.

Just dont forget to pop it around to me to check it out for myself when you get it as I see you are from the North ha ha.

lol
Well if there are meets up in the Manchester area, I'll pop down to one of them and you can have a spin.

Not been to a car meet for years now, it'd be fun to try it out again.

Me bad, sorry!

Just seemed a little expensive cause i when guys have emailed me about this, they were saying about 13k. Its probably cause the garage is adding their amount on top or i found a really bad one in Japan! lol

Has anyone driven these and then driven a p1? I knew a guy who bought a p1, bought this and then went back to the p1. He said it just felt better but im not sure if he meant the p1 was better or if he got a little scared of the STI6!!!!

Yeah, I have spoken to somebody who has had both.
The following is the info I got from him:
He advised that the TypeR was a much more agressive, full on drive. If you are doing many miles, he would not recommend it due to its ashphalt rally like setup...hard suspension, aggresive engine torque etc.

He eventually sold it and bought a P1 due to the fact he does 12K+ per anum.

His opinion was the TypeR pulled harder, braked harder and was much more fun.
He thought the P1 had the edge on cornering ability due to the softer suspension setup designed for our roads. It was a much more composed drive and better for high milage drivers.

final opinion:
TypeR = overboard on everything....for the real enthusiast
P1 = slightly more composed........for the enthusiast who requires more of a road car.

Its down to preference and what you want from the car.

Here is a quick statement I found to back it up what he was saying about the setup. Perhaps is was because the TypeR is too scary and that was the reason he went to a P1 instead.

To drive, the Type R is blisteringly quick through the gears and a fearsome machine both in a straight line and through tight, twisty bends. If it has a fault, it's that it is too full-on for British roads - too stiffly sprung, too-low geared, too on/off - and it needs care in wet conditions.
