Really gutted that the car slid on the ice tonight right outside my house and caused this....




Had only been coming back from popping to the shops and really wish I had stayed in!!! Do you know how much it is likely to cost me paying for it myself???

I had a similar prang 18 mnths ago.
New front 1/4, headlamp, bumper, no mechanical
About 1,200 quid IIRC

hard to tell from pics but looks like new bumper and front wing to me cant see much change from 600.00 if ur lucky..everyone beware my abs was operating at 6MPH on my road awd doesnt mean much in these conditions..best of luck with repair

 

I can't really see if your bonnent is bent or not, If it is, its a good excuse to get an alloy one! (or carbon fibre)

 

Not much change out of £700-800 quid for a guess.
For a good job anyway.

 

Thanks for replies so far guys!! That amount of cash is going to sting hard!! The bonnet is only slightly bent at the very bottom corner, hopefully it is repairable!!!

Had it at the dealership this morning and will be posted an official quote tomorrow, yet the bloke reckons well over £1000!!!! I think it has to be an insurance job now and do have my 4 years NCB protected!!! Never had to make a claim before... How will it work with contacting the insurance company and will they have to send someone out before the work gets authorised??

 

When I had almost identical damage my side of the bill was around £2K - sorry...

 

ak, I had a similar incident on ice in our company car park about 2 years ago in the McRae. I didnt go to dealer, had it done locally through a guy I know, he did a top job for about £200. Since then I have taken about 4 others there, only problem is he's in Bradford !!

 

Ash - not the guy that does Subaru rally cars as well is it?

Mate of mine uses a bloke in Bradford for his Scoob, and says he also preps motorsport cars etc - might be the same one?

Sorry to hear about your incident m8... had a little dink myself recently...

I could well imagine the repair cost being over £1000 for that as there will need to be a few new parts.

You need to do the following -

1) Report the incident to your insurers - they will send you a claim form to complete and return to them. They will normally ask you to get a few estimates for repair for comparison purposes.

2) They will probably recommend one of their own panel of 'approved' garages for you to take the car to... you don't have to and you can use one of your choice if you want - this may affect whether they will give you a free hire car though so check with your insurers.

3) Once the vehicle is at a garage (if its one of your choice you need to tell them who and where it is) they will arrange for one of their inspectors to go and view the car. They will put together an approximate costing for your insurers and will normally authorise the garage to commence repairs.

4)Upon collection of the vehicle you will need to pay the appropriate 'accidental damage' excess before they will release the vehicle to you and then the rest of the bill will be invoiced to your insurers.

5) One thing to be wary of is that if your car has been modded and you haven't told your insurers - this is when they will find out and they might go funny. If they are aware then you shouldn't have any probs.

sorry to see whats happened,i have recently got my car back from coachworks it had similar damage but also required a bonnet.I had it done on insurance as i was fully comp with protecton,total cost of parts and labour was 2.1k.I have an unmarked side light for that side if you decide to pay yourself.£60 new but to help out a fellow scooby-er its yours for free.good luck

sorry to see the damage

these icy roads r nasty!!!

even the ABS seems useless. scary stuff last night driving home from work as i use many back roads to miss traffic and it was just like i was driving in an ice rink, so 15mph was as fast as i allowed the RB5 and plenty of braking distance.

I have 4 brand new tyres (P zeros) so plenty of tread but still not much grip!!!!

had a couple of close calls.

had fun in wifes fiesta zetec S with handbrake in my car park
