OK So How Do I Import A 2.5l From The USA
What is it that you want Ian? The 300 bhp of the engine, cos the PPP will give you that...
Or the DCCD? because you'd be best off importing a Japanese spec STI 8 with the twin scroll turbo and DCCD....

chiark, I would have thought that it was a given that 2.5 litres is way better than 2.0 litres. I mean having that torque low down must be very nice, not to mention a full decat and ecu will probably give you a healthy 350 bhp 350 ft . lbs safely and easily on a the 2.5 litre, no ? Obviously there are lots of variables; however, a 2.5 litre must require less boost to reach a desired bhp figure and torque figure and thus less boost probably safer....doesn't it boil down to displacement ??
just my thoughts, I really don't know much about theses things but I rather have a turbo 2.5 litre than a turbo 2.0 litre if they were relativaley the same strength litre for litre etc...

Hehehe. Yup, I expect the tuners will have a field day with our STI. I intend to keep mine a fully warrantied 300hp, however. We don't know all the specs yet on the motor, but I expect Subaru can get 300hp, even with our gas and emissions, with no more than one bar boost out of this 2.5, which would be great. I have a vintage 911 for the track and before I got interested in Scoobys, I used to ogle the 2.5 liter 944 Turbo S, one of the all time great sports cars. I feel like this new STI is kinda like an update of that classic, but with far greater practicality, not to mention half the cost! And yes, feel free to import all the U.S. STI's you like.....Just remember to keep it on the correct side of the road.

Why not take your local STi and upgrade to a 2.5L short block? Put on a twin scroll turbo, and you're set. The problems of importing one would be aweful. Your high insurance would be even higher due to the rare nature of the foreign import. Who wants to go through the legal hassle and switching from LHD to RHD. Too much hassle.

but you forgot one thing we live in GB car price rip off country. We can buy a car made in England,Buy it from Europe, transport it back, pay import taxes and duties and still save £3000 ($5000 US)

First time posting here, but have enjoyed you site for a while- especially pics in your Gallery page. Used to jealously drool for the longest time over your P1s and Prodrive cars etc. Finally Subaru sends us a car to be proud of. please allow us our moment in the sun. Usually we (USA) get so screwed when it comes to imports-no Elise, Noble, TVR, STi+Evo (till recently), Skylines-you get the idea. It is a good day here and hopefully the beginning of a trend.

As I posted in John's other US 2.5 STi thread, I suspect that there will be a 2.5 STi JDM in the near future and you could go for that as a normal Grey Import. Save you the hassle of buying a LHD car.....
