Do you go round a lot of roundabouts?

Going round roundabouts shifts the cars weight to the outside as you corner, putting extra load on the nearside tyres.
It would be these 2 tyres that wear quickest, especially on the outside edges.

Not been doing any clokwise hand brake turns Pete ?

Have you had the geometry done and altered from factory defaults to a fast road spec?

What pressures you running ?

Cool

The nearside front tyres are known amongst my mates as "the roundabout tyre" always guaranteed to wear out faster if you have fun in your car

It obviously ceased to function years ago along with your bladder then.

As someone has already pointed out as you take a roundabout fast the weight transfer loads up the nearside tyres (mainly front as this is the steering tyre) and wears these out quickest.

I suggest Pete that you either a. stop tear ar$ing around corners at your age or b. get your tracking checked. Blutes

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone - makes sense that weight transfer stuff - Derrrrr!!

The Tyres are 18 Months old and Michelins - the rest of the tyre is excellent, must have another 10,000miles left!! A word of advice, BUY MICHELINS!!!! The originals wore out completely at 12 months!!

I'll have to stop thrashing the STi's and P1's if I am going to get more life out of them!

Roundabouts? Yes I do - BUT NOT fast and surely the effect would be on the OFFSIDE tyres?? Taking into account my Engineering Brain??
