I'm sure I saw a thread about MOT's and decats.

It went something like, if you have an import car it falls into the same catagory as a kit car and doesn't need to meet the same emission requirements as UK cars >92

Is this nonsence?, mot due soon and my 94wrx has no cat

 

Okay these are the limits and my results. The car is an import with just a dp cat

Fast idle test (2,500-3000rpm)
co%vol 0.3 limit 0.06 result
hc ppp vol 200 limit 0.0 result
lambda (between) 0.97-1.03 limit 1.00 result


natural idle
co%vol 0.5 limit result 0.05

So mine passed no problem but obviously has a dp cat and nothing else.

If it's an import, it only has to pass a non-cat test, providing that it's a model never originally sold in the UK.

 

wrx(94) was a model never sold in the UK, wasn't it?

Does this mean I don't need to change my exhaust?

how do i decat the centre section and still get through the mot in three years time?

If you just decat the centre section, you will have no problem come MOT time as the d/p is the main cat.

 

From the My01 onwards the UK WRXs have 3 cats.

 

Not sure but my MY00 RA had a emissions certificate along with MOT certificate. Also I have an SVA document when it came into the country. Teh emissions certicate has limits that teh car must acheive so there must be a set of figures it must pass you just cant have no emission test AFAIK.
