I am selling mine, it has 17 inch racing dynamics(or is it performance dynamics?, anyway the ones that are ment for beemers) 5 spokes on it at the mo, but also have the 16 inch alpina's that were on it when i got the car and to be honest they look better, and it has a Hartge (sp) exhaust. apart from that its standard, and in v good condition. Leather interior, and the car is metalic black.
Selling due to purchase of a skyline .......GOD I LOVE IT., although i must be honest and wish that i could keep the bm.

Turkish1,
Sold my 1989 F Macua Blue Evo a few months ago:
Look for rot around the base of the windscreen near to the wiper arms, check for overheating problems (mine took ages to sort out and I eventually replaced the radiator + hoses).
TIMING CHAIN - very important as if this goes you are looking at big bills. Usually get done around 70,000 miles.
Check the computer works and the elctrics are all ok (heated leather seats on some models).
Classic and Sports Car did a brilliant buyers guide earlier this year (February or March I think) so you may be able to get a back copy).
Email me if you have any other queries.

PS Evolution Sports (last production run) will be in Red or Black, and these can fetch high prices £10,000 +.
Stick with unmodified cars if you can - 16" alloys are best.
All panels apart from the bonnet are unique to the M3.
PPS Birds of Uxbridge carried out a few right hand drive conversions (mine was one of these) and caused no problems at all -
I think Bertie Fisher drove one in the 1993 British Rally Championship.
Great cars and if I did not have the Subaru I would not hesitate to a Sport Evolution.

Not Selling mine.... pushes out 240bhp and only going to get higher with the arrival of my motec and DTM airbox
Anyway.... had a scoob which I sold because the depreciation was a git. The BMW doesn't have the low revs torque of the scoob (or the boxer exhaust note) but once you get it over 6000rpm she is frankly awesome
On track even a bog standard E30 M3 will show up many far more expensive machines.
Try looking at the following if you want to learn something -

You know you want one.... and with all due respect make it an E30 if you want a purists driving car. The following article discusses the old E30/E36 debate...but remember the E30 is a pure homologation model, they built the race car first then the road car.

Did I mention the E30-M3 was arguably the most successful touring car ever?
Hope my mammoth post is of some help.... mail me if you want any information, need recommendations for specialist garages or want to lay your hands on some mods

True if the timing chain goes it is muchos expensive.
However, if the car has been well maintained from new then the timing chain not having been changed is not really an issue. Ask the specialists and they will tell you that they have never seen a timing chain breakage on an E30... most problems stem from poor maintenance/timing chain tensioner neglect.
IMHO Invest in a timing chain tensioner from an E36 as soon as you get your car...worth every penny (about £45 fitted)

Its worth having a look at the Mercedes 190 2.3-16v as an alternative (universally referred to as the Cosworth)
More or less the same thing, only with 4 doors and a less frantic nature. Much more of a Q-Car as well.
I looked carefully at both the E30 M3 and the Merc Cosworth before going the Merc route.
In the Mercs favour
They're cheaper to buy, almost as quick, as much a drivers car as the BM, bigger boot and more doors, and shares a lot more components with the base model than the M3 making it cheaper to maintain.
The E30 M3 is almost without doubt one of the finest handling cars ever built!
Make no mistake though - if you're used to Japanese Turbo charged shove, the M3 and 190 2.3-16v will feel as flat as a fart!!
As with every old performance car - take your time and find good one to avoid it becoming a black hole of expense.
Munich Legends in East Sussex normally have a selection of the best available - at a price though!
Good hunting!
