After throwing £1600 on a PPP for my MY02 WRX (and being only a little pleased with the results) I had the good sense to visit Power Engineering, initially only for a power run and boost gauge, however after looking at the ECUTEK2 software and listening to the research and development that had gone into this well written software I was impressed enough to advertise my PPP ECU for sale and go for the TEK2, so a week later back I went and the TEK2 was installed.
Power and torque figures were increased immediately but that is only half the story, the TEK2 has been running for a week now and the car seems to just keep getting quicker(.6 secs 0-60, 1.7 secs 0-100 when compared to PPP figures), i understand that unlike the Gems piggyback board that Prodrive fit as part of the PPP (which tricks the ecu beneath it to believing its running lower boost, which is pretty amateurish) the Tek2 continues its active learning and so becomes more customised to each individual vehicles characteristics, and after all this extra performance the car is also more economical. !

The reason for this post is not just to tell everybody how impressed i am with Power Engineering and ECUTEK (although i very much am) but to also hopefully save a few would be PPP buyers out there from making a £1600 mistake, in the next week or so my cars also going to have its up-pipe changed and a large capacity top mount intercooler fitted, once installed Mervyn is going to remap the vehicle accordingly, when works carried out i will post results for all to read.

Regards

Richard Allison

Thumbs up

You're obviously getting famous - I was talking to Merv today, and he even mentioned this mysterious car that had gone from PPP to ECUTEK only last week . . . whether I've prejudiced things by admitting to knowing you remains to be seen.

So are you getting this unnamed large TMIC for trial, an APS or what? Will it be the PE up-pipe? Porting your headers? Questions, so many questions!

Guess I'm putting my money where your mouth is as I'm booked in for the TEK next Friday . . .

Initially 262BHP & 265 LB of Torque, figure must be significantly higher now though.

Question

medway,

is this a custom map or a straight reprogramming and then out the door? Be interested to know the cost (if you could mail me as per profile).
