Volvo T5? Had one? Got one?
#1
You`re right Carlos, Mr Wilson did indeed give me the idea It`s a car I had never considered before although I`ve been looking at BM`s & SAAB`s the T5 seems a good Q car with 200bhp + gives the boy racers a bit of a shock
Oh yeah I`d be looking for an 850 as they do seem a lot cheaper than the S70, a lot of car for the cash.
What is the standard spec on them? do they come with stuff like air con, cruise, leather etc as standard?
Thanks for the info so far keep it coming

Been watching Quentin have we?? ;D I just recently sold my S70 T5. Easily the nicest car I've had. For your budget you'll struggle to find an S70 so you'll probabl have to go for an 850.
Well put together cars that feel very Volvo'y (solid and reliable). The standard 850T5 has 225 Bhp the 850T5r has 240 Bhp and 850R has 250.
The T5R was only made for short period in a few colours and was then replaced with the 'R'.
In my experiance they are extremely comfortable and great cruisers. I had no problems with mine and only sold it to get a Fourtrak (Towing). Mine was an Auto and I wouldn't think twice about getting another. Wheelspin wasn't a huge problem with the auto but I guess your more likely to in a manual, depends how happy you get with the pedals.
Have a look here www.volvoclub.org.uk/forum_main.htm I used to use the board alot and there are alot of very well informed people. There is also quite a growing section that are modding there cars. Favourite first mod is altering the wastegate actuator - brings the turbo in more quickly and gives alot more response.
All the best

I use to have a T5R Auto probably the best all round car i,ve ever owned!!!
Things to look out for are:
Top engine mount breaks i broke two!
Older ones have small brakes pre 96 i think
Check for engine check lights they come on for the smallest fault
But great cars and the T5R front bumper is only 180 quid from Volvo
if you dont buy an R
They are poo on fuel 20ish to the gallon
Doc!

Saxo Boy knows me well !, had a 850 T5 Estate Manual for four years, never really missed a beat although I did have to replace the aforementioned engine top mount balancer thingy (no mean feat to get in and out)
Basically really enjoyed it, have replaced it with a new VW Sharan TDI which is a lot nicer than I thought it would be but I cant harrass Scoobs on the motorway anymore !
I would say go for it !
Sold mine to cheap, had 30 calls ! at 4250 with 76k and it was immac with full mot, a cd player, new susp arms (go to Euro Car Parts, 120 for the parts or 500 at Volvo, hmm).
Even tyres arent that expensive for them and you will need a few, reckon on replacing fronts every 10k if you use the performance.

Im 32 tommorow by the way !
Got ours when I was 28, even had a 25 year old lad look at it, dont think he was quite ready for Volvo ownership as he had no kids (we have 3, hence the Sharan)
