I agree with babber, I can't say that I've felt any difference with SUL over NUL (MY00).

I haven't done a reset yet but I thought the later ECU's were quick to adjust to Octane changes anyway.

Floyd,

I only recently did my first ECU reset. WOW, you got to try it, it's great. The car seems to fly for a while....

I do it as a weekend treat, fill up with SUL and reset the ECU. Drive during the week with NUL.

Hi Rob,
You can still get SUL at my local Texaco garage and some other garages throughout the country but apparently by Christmas it will be gone and no 98 Ron ever

You should post this topic in the "Ireland North and South" part of ScoobyNet and see what comes up.

Good Luck!
Vans.

Wink

Guys,

I ran MY00 on NUL for six months with no problem. I am running it on SUL now, but don't know why I bother to be honest.

I sure someone will disagree, but just MHO.

WHITEGATE HAS STOPPED PRODUCING THIS STUFF SO THE SOUTH OF IRELAND IS BEING DENIED FUEL.I THINK IRISH SCOOBYS RUN 97 STANDARD AND JAP IMPORTS ARE 100 RON.CORRECT ME I AM WRONG.WE NEED TO CONTACT THE FUEL COMPANIES OR THE ENGINE BUILDERS WILL MAKE A FORTUNE FROM US.

CHEERS

Hi Chaps,

I have a MY00 and have run on NOL for 5 Months, then SUL, and reset the ECU. Apart from the engine sounding a little sweeter on tickover, I couldnt tell much difference.... and I think the "oh its so much quicker now is all in yer head"

I'm still running on SUL though....

I've run my MY99 UK car on NUL since about 2 months after I bought it (couldn't get SUL in Devon). I was reet scared about it at first but couldn't tell the difference, to be honest. Have twice since reverted to SUL for a while to see whether SUL does make a difference (haven't done ECU reset, but 99&00 cars adapt over the course of a tank of fuel, MY01 cars adapt continuously). Still no obvious difference.

For a weekend treat, I actually drive my car (walk/train/walk to work. Pah!). For an extra treat I use full throttle sometimes. And for the best treat, try it on a crisp night in late summer - you can feel the power increase as the air temp reduces and density increases!

Feel a bit sorry for ROI people with STIs though. How much octane boosted do you need to increase NUL to 99RON?
