or know of anyone else's car being nicked with a Clifford 600 fitted?

I understand the 600 has a wireless fuel cut-off system and wondered how good it really was before deciding which alarm to have fitted to my new EU import.

I was considering the Clifford 300 plus a gearbox lock which costs about the same as the 600.

Anyone any views on this?

I think the consensus is "if they want it, they WILL have it"...all you can do is take reasonable precautions to act as a deterrent from the casual joy-rider etc.

This type of issue has been bought up many times before and a quick search on "Clifford" etc will show this. The main concern with Cliffords being reliable etc comes down to the quality of the install and not just having all the bells and whistles.
I know of a Golf Gti that had a Concept 50 and another immobiliser, was parked halfway up the kerb with a lampost right in front of it and another car touching right behind....in the morning it was gone...with no damage to the lampost or other car!

Also consider a steering wheel device such as the Disklok etc which is a much cheaper and more visible detterent.

Thanks for the reply - I agree with your sentiments, if they want it enough they'll put in on the back of a lorry.

As it happens, I'd already searched for Clifford but there is little mention of the wireless cut-off system they promote as part of the 600 or as an add-on to the 300.

I'm informed that local theives have a record for bypassing Clifford systems without the wireless cut-off and drive it away. I'm really trying to establish if anyone has any experience either good or bad with the wireless cut-off and drive away theft. I'd also be interested in any comments on how painful the anti-hijack system is to operate - is it worth it?

Thats spooky! I was just wondering the same thing myself (I pick up my import in April). I am thinking about the 300 perhaps with the BlackJax thingy as an add-on.

Regarding the Clifford BlackJack feature when you start your car you must enter your PIN code. This is a three digit number.
If you forget and drive off, the hazard warning lights start to flash and the car will come to a halt within 25 seconds.
If while you are driving you open a door, you have to re-enter your code or else the car will stop and alert all and sundrie to you, the thief/car-jacker.
So long as you remember to enter the code, adn can put up with it, its ok.
Otherwise it will be a pain in the bum.

The wireless immobiliser would be a bugger to get past. It sends a signal over the car's standard wiring to the immobiliser unit telling it to unlock. If after 15 seconds the immobiliser hasn't seen this pulse, it shuts off supply: dead fuel pump.

I'm very, very impressed, especially with the Blackjax feature. I've also got NavTrack tracking.

If they want the car, they'll get it. That's what insurance is for. Alarms help, and give you peace of mind. Given enough time and a quiet place, thieves will work their way around any alarm.
