The table shows a false picture
Subaru are'nt in the same league as ford etc, nor do they compete in that space. It makes out that Subaru are doing really badly compared to ford etc, but in reality they are doing quite well in the markets they compete in.

What are the figures for '2nd divsion(in terms of volume of sales) car manufacturers' such as Mazda, Saab, Hyundai, Daewoo and Skoda.

Also take a look at the sales figures for the Impreza WRX and pit it against its competitors(the Evo, S3, Golf 4 motion, ummm, and umm did I say Evo). Although hot hatches are nearing the the same levels of performance they're not 4WD, so i've not put them in that group

Neil,

I disagree.
I thought the information might be of interest to some people on the board.

I included a small mixed bag of other cars out of interest - not in an attempt to "show up" Subarus sales figures.
I did deliberately include 2 of the top selling models in Europe (the Focus and the 206) to provide a reference point.

Unfortunately, the Mistubishi figures only show the total Lancer model figure (not specifically the Evo versions).

Would you like to see any other model in particular?
Would you like me to revise / remove the post?

I only posted this for interest value - not to stir things up.
Perhaps I should have stated this in the first post.

Either way - no harm intended.

Rich

RichS

Was'nt having a go mate, more like heading the mis-interpretation from other off at the pass.

It's of more interest by how much sales figures fell for all car marques.

The one thing it DOES show is exactly how important the Impreza is to Subaru - it is without doubt their biggest seller...

Just for your info, Subaru sales in the UK for the YTD 2002 are down 22% when compared with the YTD 2001 figures.

Thing to remember is that these are all just statistics and we all know how reliable these are.........

Fair enough Neil - understood

I can put up some other models for comparison if anyone's interested, however, the level of detail is limited.
(eg Only the total sales figures for Golfs are stated, the 4motion or other variants are not shown individually.)

Also, the 5% or so drop in sales figures, for Imprezas, 2001 - 2002 is typical of the overall drop across all makes/models.

LOL @ dnb

Steve - unfortunately no. I've only just subscribed to this publication, and the current issues only include this year/last year....

no matter just wondered what the 2000-2001 sales of the 'classic' were to compare them with the current version.

Thanks anyway

What I find most interesting regarding the figures are the Legacy sales figures.

6139 in jan-sept 2001 but only 3466 over the same period in 2002 !!!!!!!!!

Any reasons?

But what would be most interesting to see are the Impreza sale figures from the same periods in 2000 and 1999 (to compare the classic vs. bugey sales figures). There is alot of wild figures flotaing around in that department.

LEGACY !??!

I cannot believe that only 125 Legacies were sold in the whole of September across Europe. That's less than 1 per dealer in the UK !

Shame on I.M for not marketing it or bringing in sportier models
that might compete with the Impreza.

It's better built and a better car IMHO
