It has been mentioned.. but due to the strict embargo on NOT releasing details before the 11 Sept (3pm). There are legal reasons for not publishing details on Scoobynet...

If it has 260Bhp/253 Lb/ft of torque then it's hardly worth going for over a MY01 with PPP. IF It's released at 30K one is paying an 8K premium for just an additional 5-10/ft of torque, probably delivered higher up the rev range.
I've had a theory for a while that the new UK STI will only be as quick as UK a Mk1 with PPP. These figures would seem to back this up. I'll wait and see.
IF these figures are correct then IMHO it's a huge disapointment and IF it is 30K poor value for money. At 24K it would be a better buy. I could justify 2-3K extra seeing as the new car will have a 6 speed box etc etc but not on the basis of power output.
What I suspect will happen is that it will be launched at 30K and then a few months later a 'P2' version will be launched at say 34K with the full 280Bhp. Think of it as a super PPP.
It's too late to change the pricing, but i just hope Subaru realise that 30K is far too much for a car that is only fractionally more powerful than it's 22K base model.
I'll say it again, 32K get's you a BMW M3 or EVO 7. On the basis of power and bang for buck a 30K 260Bhp STi seems poor value.
I've been wrong before so fully expect to be this time.

has anyone seen this ? it looks the dogs and is claiming 80% new engine compared to the standard wrx !!! with reinforced block etc...
it still does not have as much bhp as the Japan version though, maybe just due to the fuel
how come this is not on this BBS yet. ?

Just to throw a spanner in the works.
I was at my dealer 2 weeks ago and the salesman showed me his official bumph on the new STi, and it said that the car will have 310bhp, & big brakes etc. The spec looked mighty impressive
I saw it with me own eyes.
Also there’s no way that the new STi will have less horsepower than the Evo7. That would be sales suicide for Subaru.

hi Neil
i have to disagree with you there one this one. the spec sheet is very impressive, however i hope the price is right though ? there is two models on will be the standard sti and one with the prodrive spoilers which is the one i like. with out giving too much details, the engine is different so will be good for tuning potential
, 6 spd box, suspension, brembos, st rack, diff etc and the list goes on.
MRK i hate to disappoint you but it will not have 310bhp
the way i am thinking is it may start with 260bhp if i get one there is no way it will rmain this way for long

Subaru will probably quote 280hp, or whatever the power for the Jap versions are, just like they did in Australia with the version 5 & 6 STI s. They quoted 280hp even though they only had 260hp, due to fuel and emmision differences in OZ from Japan. In small print on the bottom of the page of the brochures, they had written that the power quotes were based on 100 RON fuel and that the power could differ on Aussie fuel, which it did.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

Whatever he showed to you - it's rubbish - sorry mate - Alex just may be right for once.
Wait until Tuesday then we can all find out the truth! I'm looking forward to see what the power output really is - and more importantly the price.
Mmmmm - UK Sti with warranty - or import with a shed load of mods?

There's also a small picture in the Express today. No details except to mention two "pointless toys", water spray and rev limit warning buzzer.

power out put to be exact is 265ps, which is 261.5bhp at 6000tpm/253ib ft at 4000rpm.
according to the leaflet infront of me right now, i don't see why the public relation department at subaru would lie to their dealers ? but who knows.
but again wrexy is right at 100ron these cars produce 276PS which is around 270bhp so 97ron will produce a little drop in power.

Sam,
you aren't considering changing cars to something as slow as the STi are you
I notice it is called the European spec Impreza, I presume this means that the car will be sold in the same spec all over Europe, which means our friends in Holland and Belgium etc have got something to get excited about as well
Just hope that the price is right...
