Howdy,

First off I'd just like to say hi!

I'm in the process of putting a '97 STI ver3 motor into a '96 impreza brighton and I was wondering if anyone had the STI wiring diagram for this motor (ej20k). I 'hear' that this diagram is rare if not impossible to find. If anyone has this or might have an idea as to where I can find it, please let me know. I'd gladly pay you for a copy of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,
keske

Keske,

just to clarify - do you mean the ECU pin-outs?

There may well be a good source of this.

Hi Trout,

Yes I do mean ECU pin outs.

And just for kicks, if anyone has the wiring diagrams for the motor and interior (heck, i'll take whatever i can get!) that would be much appreciated.

Here are a few fun pics of how us yanks unload motors.

and yes, my driveway is steep. Too bad the mustang decided not to start that day, so its' punishment was it got to be the anchor for the engine hoist.

thanks again,
keske

What about a PossumLink ECU manual for that model year/engine - I don't have one, but surely someone does.... and it's go the ECU pinouts in the back.

That would be great. I'll send them an email and see if they'll send me a copy of their manual.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Keske,

I'm affraid the engine in the picture isn't a '97 V3, it's from an earlier car. Looks like an STi 2 '96. Still a very good, engine, and turbo.

The STi 3 had the bigger IC, no individual coil packs, and an IHI turbo, not a TD05H.

The pin outs are different for the earlier car.

Mark.

Keske,

John beat me to it.

Yes - Link Electrosystems publish the pin-out in the Possum Link manual. You should try Link Electrosystems in Oz or Possum Bourne Motorsport in New Zealand (they have a website and I think the manuals can be accessed there).

As Mark says, clarify which engine it is that you have.

Also, consider getting a Possum Link ECU, saves mucking about with other ECUs and they can produce good results.

Cheers,

Trout

WOW! Thanks for the great info everyone. Since we don't get STI motors over here, I didn't know what to look for to distinguish between years of sti motors. The yard told me it was a '97 but we all know how trust worthy yards are.

Well he'll let me return the motor if i decide not to keep it (the motor looks fine, but now that it's a '96 i think i paid too much for it).

Thanks folks,
keske

It is an STi version 2 motor, be aware that if it is from a Wagon then it will "only" be 260 ps, if from a sedan then 275ps, the 260ps engine runs with a higher compression ratio.

The Link manuals do not all have the ecu info, only the Version 5 manual has that.

I'd like to thank Bob again for sending me the ecu wiring diagram.

You folks rock!

I'm definately looking into using an aftermarket managment system, but since I already have the oem ecu and wiring harness I thought I would give it a try. I've never had any experience w/ the possum link as most ppl i know over here in the states use electromotive tec2 (coming soon, tec3).

I've actually been looking at a tec2 setup for my mustang, but perhaps the impreza will get one first.
