Finally managed to get some colour coding done to the car aswell as get the side indicators replaced... so long to that ugly orange. For those of you interested in taking a look at the colour coded front reflectors and mirror supports you can see some photos I took today here:

The paint match came up flawless as you can see in the image below:

Any thoughts?

I've never seen the side indicator done like that. Looks great.

For the front reflector it's just a matter of popping out the original item... priming the plastic... painting a few coats of the same colour as the car... few coats of clear... and then popping it back in. I dropped it off at the paint shop in the morning and picked it up later that afternoon.

And for those of you who were interested, yes... the indicators still do flash orange.

Hi, Your Scooby looks great! I have the same car and i'm thrilled with it except for one tiny little problem. The front fog lamp covers on my car are a different shade of blue so much so that this Thursday i'm getting them sprayed to match the bumper and now (after seeing your front relectors) they will be done as well.

Did you have any colour match probs with your fog lamp covers?

Thanks for the inspiration.

Matt.

Matt,

I presume that you got your front fog lamp covers sprayed later after you brought the car, because otherwise they should be a perfect match (and if they're not you should be able to claim it under warranty).

My fog lamp covers are the right colour (as they should be, they came with the car), but with such a new car it should be very easy to match the colour... the paint shop I went to just punched in the colour code into a computer and it spat out the right colour, which was the end of it really.

JGRIFF,

As for the thread highjacking, I've got no problems with that... especially when the car looks that clean. Whilst we're on the topic of clean looking black MY02 STi's, have a look at this one:

Gerrod, The fog lamp covers were an off colour from the start. Trouble is, i was so excited about driving the car that initially i did'nt notice the colour mis match until i washed it. I complained to the dealer at its 1000mile service, he did agree that there was a difference, but he then showed me another WR blue Sti (brand new) and there was a slight difference on that too. I am going to take a picture of before and after, then send it to Subaru's head office with a letter of complaint. Incidently, the pink and white stickers for the covers are about £18 each(!) The stickers will cost as much as the spray job.

To tell you the truth I've actually seen the STi fog lamp covers with the pink STi taken off and the white writing left and thought it looked pretty good... see below:

Your thoughts?

Pelham: try a local signwriter. They can make stickers just like the real ones, same design, colour, script, cut in vinyl, exactly the same, for a fraction of the cost. And you can have them any colour, any size you like.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. You'll notice a very strong Subaru/WRX/STi theme throughout it all.
