Hi guys (And girls!)
Has anybody else been stung by the main dealers for the white side indicators and reflector sets for the MY01????
I've just bought them tonight from the local dealer and here's the shopping list with the total:

White front indicator (J1010FE501) £64.95!!!
White side indicator (J1010FE500) £39.95
Locking wheel nut set (SACC2135) £17.95

Grand Total £122.85

I don't mind paying for stuff but £64.95 for side reflectors is a complete joke.Even the guy in the parts dept at Subaru was going on about the extortionate price of em!

I assume that somebody will make me even happier now and tell me that you can buy em far cheaper from a third party.Guys?

Anyway, the car looks 100% better with the white indicators/reflectors.Shame Subaru didn't fit them at the factory though!

Cheers,

Nick..

Question

The very fact that you actually paid that price for them tells me that Subaru have got the price about right ..... an item is only worth what someone will pay for it ..... I cant see why you are moaning as it obviously was not too expensive for you or you WOULDNT have bought them!

Sorry to add this but my local dealer charged the following inc VAT.

White reflectors £59.94
White indicators £30.00

Still expensive, I take it each dealer can add their own markup ? I'd phone around next time.

Bought mine today and payed :-

J1010FE500 = £29.99 inc vat

J1010FE501 = £47.95 inc vat

grand total £77.95, better than £104.90 !

£26.95 difference ( greedy dealer )

Always check the prices out at

http//www.subaru.co.uk

and then ask the dealer how much they charge, my dealer wanted the same price as you were charged but changed there mind when i told them the price on subaru h/page, answere was " we've got an old price list "
load of crap !! just greedy thats all.
oh ye u payed the right price for the wheel nuts if thats any consolation to you.

I got the car 4th Jan this year and had the first car out of the dealers showroom. On the options list it said white indicators for £34 - off the website - so i ordered. Imagine my shock when i collect the car to find that the website didnt include the indicators as well so i had another £70 on top. *******s.

I hate dealers who rip you off. They wanted to charge me £28 for fitting them!!!

PSLewis,

A very valid point.

I think I paid £80 or so and they were fitted by the dealer.

Assuming the car doesnt change shape much over the next six years they will go on each car, costing just over £10 a year!!

I do hope the headlights change though. Who was it on here who drafted Toyota Avensis headlights on a few weeks ago. I thought it looked fantastic. Subaru should have copied the Avensis and not the Corolla!!

Thanks for the info guys,I've just phoned the dealer and mentioned the prices on the Subaru website. They stuttered a little bit and said that they'd get back to me. Hopefully they will see sense and return the money that they own me otherwise I think a call to trading standards is in order....
Will post the outcome soon!

Cheers,

Nick..

Bobafett,
They are easy to fit (In fact too easy in my opinion cos it makes them easy to rob!!!)
You get full fitting instructions with em and basically,I fitted mine myself and they took 10 mins (I'm no mechanic though!!!)
If you do get em from Subaru (Not found any third parties that sell em anyway!) make sure that you pay these prices:
J1010FE500 WHITE SIDE TURN LENS 29.99
J1010FE501 WHITE FRONT SIDE LENS 47.95

As you can see from early posts in this topic of mine they charged me more than that.If they argue, just tell em these are the prices that are on the Subaru UK homepage!

Cheers m8,

Nick..

Just to add to the topic a little... I recently met my local dealer parts manager, won't name the dealer or him, after ordering a part.... was given a price when ordering that I thought was a bit on the steep side...told him the price i'd been given and he agreed it was a bit much... he knocked about 25% off the price for me, as he did with a few other bits and bobs.... so my advice is - befriend your parts manager cos he has a LOT of room to play with when it comes to prices....and he might just be able to get hold of certain things you thought he couldn't......STi stuff....maybe/maybe not..

the above is my personal opinion and if IM have any problem then I may have been dreaming it all up and I am insane anyway

I have always found that different dealers charge different amounts. A certain dealer near Guildford (that also sell Lotus) are consistently 10-15 pct higher than Cheam Motors unless challenged !!
