As it's right on the Welsh boarder and as I'm off there for a week on Monday are there any roads worth checking out ?

Agree with Makalu, besides Ross on Wye is too beautiful to speed through.

Ross on wye to Ledbury , Ledbury to Malvern Malvern to Worcester Worcester to Hereford Hereford to Ross on Wye

Nice little tour but do it 5:00am as roads to Hereford get congested during Daylight

If you get chance, do the A44 from Worcs towards Aber. When you get to Rhayader go left on the A470 towards the Elan Valley. As you leave the town go right up on to the back road to Aber and Devil's Bridge. Amazing bit of road... but mind the sheep....
