The XT my friend was a technological exercise for subaru in the early 80s. It had much more things as standards than many of tadays cars. some of which are(electro-pneumatic suspension with adjustable height and damping), 4wd on selection(there was a button on the gear lever that change the car from front wheel drive to 4wd), trip computer with everything you need to know, digital dashboard, steering wheel and dash adjustable for reach and rake!!! it was 1.8 turbo and for the US it was produced as a 2.7 normally aspirated(crap).speed sensitive power steering,A/C

OH, and it had a drag coefficient of Cw 0.29, even today there are not many cars that can beat that!!!

The 2.7 was a six cylinder (XT6) which also took the same 5-stud pattern as the legacy/impreza. I believe they had to extend the engine bay an inch or so to fit the 6-cylinder in.

XT's are dirt cheap - they generally go in the sub £500 region unless it's a particularly fine example. The only down side is that they are all (i believe) automatics.
