Mill Lane Engineering in Bassingstoke will do you 205/45R17 PZero's for £94 (ish) + VAT

Some say all four (which I do) others say either both front or rears...

Subaru say all four apparently... (i think)

Question

Toonman - the lower the profile the higher the price is normal for tyres.. so really the price is very good considering its a higher spec tyre...

Doc

Been buying tyres for some years now (occasional sets even lasted longer than a 4 mile Special Stage...), so I'm well aware of size/price differentials. I think you'll find most things are cheaper here in the North East of England. Mind, don't tell anyone; let's leave most of the population in the South and keep all the great driving roads secret...

Also, whilst I'm new to Scoobynet, I'm not to Impreza Turbos. My first hit the road 07 April 1994, long before most of the UK realised what it was and jumped on the bandwagon. Still think your new car looks good and the shape is growing on me. Whether we buy one or not, I'm not sure. Fancy a new Tuscan; even my Wife agrees!

PS: Scanwise must be seriously bugged if it stuffed Win ME whilst you were making what are very basic adjustments to colour/bit depth etc. Have the makers (Agfa?) updated the software? If it's still under warranty, why not take it back? I would.

But I appreciate most wouldn't want to travel 2-300 miles or more for a set of cheaper tyres.

Good luck whatever you buy!

Mal K said C&S Tyres in Middlesbrough were doing 16" PZs for £94 inclusive, so your price sounds expensive to me.

I change tyres per axle and never had any probs. Not keen on swapping front to rear though. And I don't like mixing makes - did once on a European Championship Rally in Belgium when I had no option. Not a nice experience, even though I did miss the trees. That's my excuse anyway... Lotus Sunbeams - don't you just love 'em?! Well I did in 1984.

thanks for your replys, i am in norfolk south so all a bit far really, but good advice on how many to change.so the general rule is if i change both front then all should be ok.

anything of equal or good quality closer to £100, or i would assume less if you are only paying about that for P Zeros in your areas

1 - Mike Wood (prodrive) said elsewhere on the BBS that the Impreza's drive train was strong enough for it not to matter if you only changed 1 wheel at a time. However I would probably change 2 at once if were you.

2 - Cheaper and dearer alternatives are available Toyo T1s are cheaper and highly rated by most. Bridgestone S02's are dearer and better. For similarish or less money Goodyear Eagle F1's are available, but not really any better.

Not a problem. I'll get off my high horse now, which I tend to climb on rather too easily at times.

As for Mike Wood's comments about changing one tyre and drive train strength. Maybe he's not referring to handling though. I know from past and current experience, that odd (as in different) tyres can lead to unusual and undesirable characteristics in the way a car feels and acts on the road. And I bet Mike doesn't run a Scooby with a mix of tyres on it...

I hope you're all enjoying the great weather at present. Have a great Weekend!
