Here is a starter for 12...

How many WRX/STi owners out there have been nabbed and how has it affected your insurance premiums? Has anyone been to court? Just received a summons for non-payment. Kind of playing a waiting game at the moment but may have to face up to this one.

Yours nervously,

Mark

I got six points inside 3 months, both for SP30, one was a gatso and the other a traffic cop with a radar gun. this was before I had the scoob. They are now expired but I wonder how long I will last with a clean licence now I am in the realm of 3 figure speeds (where conditions allow...). My main objective is not to end up getting clocked at 120+ and end up losing licence in one hit.

Charlie.

Edited again to say that the SP30s made no difference to my insurance.

Cool

I have 6 points on my licence, I cannot say how much it affected my insurance as the policy is now for a different car.

It will affect your insurance to some extent, there is no getting away with not declaring as it will invalidate your insurance.
AFAIAA, the SP30's do not make much of an impact, it is the higher point collection and SP50's above that will give the rise.
That is all in my opinion of course

I was told that a single SP30 with < 6 points makes hardly any difference to the premium. Once you have multiple SP30's and more than 6 points, they start to hit your premiums.

It's stuff like dangerous driving, drink driving, driving without insurances that really hits your hard (and rightly too).

Stefan (clean license now, but did have 4 points with an SP30)

Got 2 SP50s - a 3 pointer (100 on m'way) & a 21 day ban (111 on same m'way) - both in last 18 months.
Made v little diff to insurance - 2% ea AFAIK (cost me an extra £15 when I informed them of ban!)- claim history much more important.
MY98 UK PPP etc.etc.

Agree with Ozzy re above statement

Myself had 9 points 6 came off the day before caught doing 115 (managed to brake from 140 though ;o)
1 week ban 550 fine (solicitor did a quite good job !!)

Had no impact on my insurance - and yes I do have some !

ProperCharlie - the penalties for a totting-up loss of licence are far worse than get done for 100+ on a clean licence.

Angry

I had insurance with admiral - until I picked up 3 points for a TS10 (failure to stop at traffic signals) - very marginal, but camera on the crossing took picture...

Admiral seem to be the only insurance company who use a no points policy - it would have cost me 500 quid a year extra (400 after complaining) - I obviously went elsewhere
