I set out in May this year to buy a P1, I test drove one and loved it to pieces, unfortunaltey the front spoiler was too low to fit on my drive so I had to settle for an STi7 which although quick was not in anyway as quick and as exhileratring as the P1. The spec on the P1 is I believe 0-60 in 4.7 sec and a top speed of 155 mph. What I would like to know is what is it that makes the P1 go this fast because utlimatley I would like my Sti7 to achieve these milestones.

Extra power and lower weight makes the P1 quicker. If you got your STi to say 320 bhp with a nice wide torque band then it should be as accelerative as a P1. The turbo in the STi should be more capable than that in the P1 and the intercooler is quite big for a top mount so those are in your favour, along with better tyres and brakes as standard. People will debate the grip and handling forever so I won't get into it.

Take about 250kg worth of bits off your STi and it will be very similar.

Start with the unnecessary things, like passenger and rear seats, air conditioning, carpets, sound proofing, any interior trim, motors etc, and see how far that gets you.
