CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH INSURANCE

I have had my scooby for 3 years now and my
insurance just keeps going up.
I am currently insured with Norwich union.
35 years old, full NCD living in the Oldham area.
And with the recent riots in this area I fear my insurance is going to rocket.
First year I paid £760 2nd year £920 and this year £1090 (had no claims in this 3 year period)
Much higher car might sadly have to go.

Problem of the society we seem to live in, same happened to me this time, rise of £400 for no apparent reason other than car crime, accident claims etc,....try Tesco's, they came out the cheapest, Norwich Union give an excellent policy but wanted £1760 in comparison to Tesco's £1008 !!!

 

Are these prices for UK std cars??? Sh1te!!

I dont mind my £500 - but any more and I will start to really think about Subaru and me parting company - find me a way to get above 17mpg and I may just hang about for a while

Hey Sparkplug.......your right its getting worse out there......

I've just renewed and have the same basic details as you, i.e. 3 YearsNCD, 30ish, etc...........

I was getting quoted about £1000 - £1100 with a car that had minor mods and over top security systems.

Then out of the darkness stepped Greenlight......who also stepped up to the mark with under £1000 on a quote. That added to their knowledge of the car, ability to mod it easily and their excellent customer service got my vote........

I gotta agree with ScoobySnack, Greenlight came up trumps for me. My renewal came through in febraury and my current insurers then quoted a £400 increase.
I found Greenlight Insurance and they Quoted me £20 less than the previous years policy, my insurance actually went down.

Unfortunately, there is no substitute for ring round.

Each year at renewal time, I ring about 10+ brokers and insurance companies.

For me, Privilege was the cheapest and I could buy (not just obtain a quote) on-line. They are the "performance" part of Direct Line, IIRC.

 

I have been very lucky indeed and have had decreases over the last three years! I think I may have had a slight increase this time but I am putting it on a limited mileage policy. All mods declared and protected no claims AND on an import WRX!

My Privilege renewal has just come and is £950 for my Mitsubishi Estate (only 1 yr NCB) - Tesco was £600 !
My STI was £1500 last yr and Tesco quoting £800.

Tesco's will be getting my business.

 

Hmm. My premium went from £1200 -> £800 with Privilege

Go figure..

okay, I'm 23 with 1yrs NCB and been driving for nigh-on 6yrs. Currently paying 1250 fully comp for insurance which is guaranteed not to go up for the duration of the policy, on a MY99 UK turbo with no mods...

Once the policy is setup, surely they can't jack the premiums? I guess it might be in the small print but I would have thought that any company which tries to up the cost half way through the year would not be around for long!

Use Tesco's web site you get a further 5% off.

Anyone else think the group 17 rating of the Scoob is a joke? My Scoob cost £1024 to insure, my V6 Mondeo is a group 16 only one group less, same value and circumstances £448 with £250 less excess.
