Prob a stupid question but do jap imports have VIN no's as well as model nos?

As far as i know Andy jap cars only have chassis numbers and no VIN numbers as only cars for the european market have VIN numbers.

Jason now have to agree with mel, checked the car & found no Vin no, not like what GGR's site, shows only eng type, Tran type, Trim code, color code, & model code, so it looks like there is no such thing as a jap car with a vin no

surely there must be a way off differentiating between these imports other than the uk reg no? anyone help

 

Off my V5 docuemnt my grey import RA has a :

Vin/chassis/frame number which is 9 characters long
Engine number which is 7 numbers

In addition to these number my car's VIN plate also has a paint code and model number (the model numbers are shown on the FAQ on the SIDC site).

To identify the car as unique its the same as a UK ie has a chassis and engine number ie no difference.
