Yes it's true the scooby is a flying machine, in the true sense of the word.

I was watching a programme this afternoon on discovery channel when on came this Yank who had built his own chopper.
In the first few shots you could clearly see it was powered by what looked like a flat four engine.
As the camera came around I could make out it was a scooby engine by the dip stick and oil filler cap.(sad or what )

Now if he had just replaced those skids with gold wheels and fitted an FMIC and scoobysport exhaust it would have been a real Concorde challenger.

It's quite common in the States to use Scooby engines for light aircraft and the like :0

 

Surely a Cossie Lump would be better.....I'll get me coat...

 

You cant use cossie engines on light aircraft as there are no hard-shoulders to wait in for the breakdown people

 

I once heard that Stringfellow Hawk stole the lump from a white Sierra Cossie in an attempt to up the performance of Airwolf.

 

I saw that programme too last week ! Wondered if it was the Subaru boxer or a specifically designed aero lump.

Jason a Beetle engine are you serious I woulnd't want to travel by road with one of them let alone fly.

MMM how did I guess this thread would end up like all the other threads at the moment

Now if he had only fitted the lump from an M3 it would have been really quick.

Beetle engines are also very popular in home built light aircraft. They are very reliable and being air-cooled means they're very light weight also. A 6 cyl M3 engine is a bit on the heavy side
