Why don't the moderators delete the topic from the original forum when they move it. Am I the only one that finds it a pain in the rear end going to reada topic only to find it has been moved.and not just locked. Also if moved threads were deleted from the original forum the pages could be smaller or have more real topics on them.

Just my opinion.

It lets the thread originator know where the thread was moved to. If we just deleted the link, then people following the thread would think it'd been deleted and not moved.

 

Getting to the stage where you may as well delete the thread as IMHO soon as its moved it dies. I for one cant be bothered chasing in other forums maybe other people do so I maybe in the minority.

How agout putting an icon next to the thread link when the thread has been moved so that we know not to click on it. Or maybe changing the thread link so that clicking on it takes you to the thread in the new position.

PS: I bet this thread will be moved now to the suggestions forum!!!!!!!! LOL.

Good suggestions. I'm not sure how technically feasible these are. And yes the suggestions forum is a better place for this thread. Except someone would post a thread moaning about the links remaining for this one.

What do other people think. Is it better to have the reference link there or so simply move the thread and delete all trace of it from the original forum?

 

I personally think that it would be good to have an "Auto transport" function so that when you click on the thread it takes you to a screen like already in place that tells you that the thread has been moved but then transposts you to the threads new location.

This is not too difficult to do and would utilise the basic coding that is already in place for transportation after placing a posting.

 

Agree on having either a link in place to the thread or re-direction.

Neil I don't care if you move it then delete the original because the people that have replied to it already know what type of thread it is and if it disapears have a rough guess at where it might have ended up, and anybody who hasn't read it won't know about it until they find it in another forum so no one is any worse off are they.
