IMHO there are very few things that can be done to a scoob for less than £250 that make it go quicker or "feel" different. Most of it is (IMHO again ) Placebo i.e I think therefore it is quicker/Louder/more responsive/ etc.

Hell if it actually worked, it would cost alot more i.e FMIC, ECU remaps, Complete Suspension change, Big brake kits, Hybrid Turbo's, Headlight conversions, Clutch upgrades, Wheel alignment (Dubious one that one )

Besides, summat has to keep the 3rd party boys in business

Not knocking the cheaper Mods by the way, but i reckon that everyone has got some mod or other on thier car and if during the night, someone came and removed it, you wouldn't notice that it was gone!!!

250 quid will buy a driver training day/IAM course. That'll make the car go faster.

Scoobysport Cibies (when they are working that is ) certainly make it possible to drive the car faster at night and are one thing that you would notice if removed (in the middle of the night) !

I'd notice if someone took my dump valve in the night. It makes such a feck1n racket at every gear change. Great for making people at bus stops jump.

Plus the absence of the noisy exhaust would ring some alarm bells as well.

lol @ jason & Yoza

What about if someone wound ya dawes device down 1 turn? or replaced ya ITG with a paper job? Took of your strut brace? or (And i know it's not likely ) Someone dialled out ya geometry by a few degrees (Minutes) or ran off with ya bumpsteer mod?
What about if your brake cooling ducts were to disappear? Would you notice that your car were slowing down differently? Probably on a track but not driving to work. Say someone swapped the spring in ya Dump Valve. Would you notice a change in spool up time aswell as sound?

Driver training is a good one actually, hadn't thought about that one.

Anymore comments?

Mikey

ps this is a light hearted thread, just wanted to know if it was just me who thought like this.

I have done one modification, cost me £350, and it gave me 58bhp.

Was that value for money, yes!

Would I notice if someone nabbed it, damn right I would!!

Ah, should have pointed out, I drive a Skoda, and it was pretty *de*tuned as standard, so most of the jump was simply letting it have what it was supposed to.

Custom re-mapped chip, 164bhp -> 222bhp.

I thought that Mikey! Although I think Fantom's spot on on this one...

I probably wouldn't notice if my sparkly badge went missing However, I think I would notice the decatted centre section, cost me £50 (thanks Simon ) and the car pulls alot more smoothly (even my Mum commented on it...although she thought something was broken ) oh, and it rumbles in a nice way when I get to work

Some mods - probably not noticing on the weekday comute - however, I think there is the odd one...

You would miss the bumpsteer mod, well, you wouldn't until you got to your first corner

I think if someone let the air out of my tyres I would notice that it "feels" different, and that costs less than 250 quid

I got a scoobysport rear silencer, I'd notice the sound missing at startup, although can't imagine noticing too much of a drop in power.

Also got some kind of suspension mods (don't know what exactly, already had them when I bought the car MY00). After test driving a standard MY00 definatley notice the suspension in cornering. Much less roll, which is good.

And if someone took away my gold P7's I'd cry.

Leave the keys in the ignition when you park it.

This is free and will make the car "go" very quickly indeed.....

Not entirely true! I've got a dawes (£35) and that is enough to reel in standard Impreza's and it certainly feels faster too.

PPP = Prodrive Performance Pack (about 1500 quid I believe for a warranty approved performance increase)

Dawes Device (http://www.dawesdevices.com) is a manual boost controller to give you more boost (for 35 quid!).

Dawes sounds like fun. A UK-spec 2000, would it fit that?

Yes it would fit both, it is recommended that you have a boost gauge fitted though otherwise you could have some problems...

I have RIGID gauges fitted, so thats ok.

Just been looking at http://www.vishnuperformance.com/stage.htm
13 second quarter mile sounds attractive for about £750!
have to fit it yourself though
