I believe if you stay with a rating >= 35 you should be OK. SecureFix will advise you if you get it done with them, they know the legal maximum for the front windows. Give them a call on 07970-193498, ask for Keith or Ade or James. (200 quid ish for a saloon, all windows bar windscreen)

Alex,

Wish I'd known about these guys. I could have saved myself £150

Still isn't that always the way when you've just paid out for something.... Ho-Hum

I was thinking about having it done too and it's about £180 out here in Switzerland.

That's just for three windows though as it appears that you can have really black (4% light transmission) on the rear doors and rear screen but nothing on the drivers or passenger door is allowed.

Reverse parking at night must be fun!

One question, is it generally done in situ or is it a glass out jobbie?

Alex,
Any idea what it'd cost to rip out my existing tints and then get all windows except front windscreen done in a medium tint?

Markus,

Just rip the old stuff out yourself. I got rid of mine in less than an hour. You'll need decent window cleaner to get the residue off after its all gone as well. Most of it just peeled off in big chunks.

Markus, I haven't seen your black beast, but a lot of the jap cars have tinted glass rather than film tints, so to lighten the tints you may have to replace the glass!!!!

Question

Markus - Not sure how much, but they'll sort you out no worries, but as Jerome said, its probably a better idea to do it yourself, cheaper anyhow.
