A little hint in the mag that they are gonna compare it to other imprezas ( RB5 ? ) at least next month.

It's another of those "didn't really drive it" articles - they mention the PPP but the car pictured has twin tailpipes i.e. no exhaust swop, so no PPP.......

Well spotted Dave

After reading the article I know for sure that EVO mag are under the pay of Subaru UK.
Why? well because they never made the slightest unfavourable comment about that horrendous growth on the bootlid

Well down at the Golf club today, no one made a bad remark about the bootlid. Maybe its just Scooby owners

Starting to like the looks myself

Cool

so you've got one then jonathan ? with the PPP ? if so whats it like ?

i've only driven a standard MY01 and thought it wasn't as quick as mine. although i must admit it handled very nicely on a few bends.

i must say i like the spoiler and would happily buy one for my MY00. although i'm probably in the minority !

certainly hoping evo do a better more in depth article next month.

Dave

They had two cars pictured ( well two registration plates showing ) so they may have had a PPP and a non PPP.

I noticed the same as Neil. One of the photos was from the std Press Release of IM.
The other was Richard Meaden driving a PPP version.

Steve

Yes I have gone for the PPP after having a drive of one. It does make a big difference to the car with all that extra torque. I went for the UK300 rather than another P1.

UK300 Looks very nice in the flesh, just the different headlights made me want to buy it - but I didn't, well not unless the boys gave me a very good trade in!

Probably already sold, but who knows it was at Concours Subaru dealer at Haslemere, Surrey.

One photo is from the standard press release, the other was taken by EVO during the SMMT test day last month when all the journo's got to drive the same car for 10-15 minutes or so, hence no in depth description, this car had the ppp fitted and it does make an appreciable difference, particularly at the top end

You puzzle me, you really do! Is there any car on the planet you havn't bought at least twice over? You buy a P1, then sell it. You buy an Audi as a an interim !!! while waiting for a new M3. Then to top it off you consider buying another P1 before actually purchasing a UK300. What have you achieved apart from loosing a shed load of money and ending up with a slower car than you had before? Don't take this the wrong way M8 but perhaps you can enlighten us
Cheers

Yep,

My RB5WR a P1 (don't recognise the name from here at moment) and a UK300 PPP apparently.

Looking forward to it, and seeing what my car can actually do in the hands of an expert

More news on Thursday, if anyone's interested

Steve

I'm in need of help if you hadnt guessed.

I do have a company car allowance, I now dont pay company car tax, I get tax relief on interest paid and 45/25p a mile. Thats some of the justification to myself.

I do lose money. This year it will be 7.5k in depreciation. I know this as I have guaranteed buybacks from the dealers Ive bought from. The above money I get covers a nice chunk of it. The rest comes out of my salary. I'm in charge of European Sales for an American company, so I get paid OK, but not at IT contractor level

Why so many different cars. Some of its boredom, but I have an on off love affair with the Scooby. Its usually its lack of refinement, that has got to me in the end. The UK300PPP seems to address most of my complaints. Do I miss the pace of the P1 ? - no not really as I think the UK300 on the road is very close for grunt, and the handling is a step up for my driving talents (better drivers might get more out of the P1 than a UK300).

My last change was dictated by the S3's buyback date. I wanted another Scooby, and in the end prefered the UK300. Why not have 2 of the same car ?

Sounds like the first time this P1 will have been above 5000rpm

Yex - keep us posted.

Chins - I have followed the P1 at over 3000 revs - Josh weren't driving it

Josh - You kept that quiet. I suppose as 'Simon DB's Boy / Photographer / B*tch' you're starting to get preferential treatment

Besides he advertised for a 'standard' one - I thought you had the Go Faster stickers in the back seat windows

Josh,

Sorry M8 didn't realise it was your car being used as well. I recognised your e-mail address when the invite arrived from Jethro but thought you were the photographer for the day...would a pint be sufficient to get back in your good books

Look forward to meeting you and the guys from EVO tomorrow morning

Jonathan,

I would beg to differ. I nearly had her up to 5,500 rpm at the traffic lights the other day. Did any of you guys realise that the P1 has FIVE gears ?!?.

Neil,

Rope....Up.....****....a.....Go !

Josh

PS Yes I've been asked to remove the go faster stripes for the day.

Jonto

I am the SIDC Regional Organiser for Staffordshire.

Contact me via E Mail and I'll add you to my E Mail Notification list for SIDC events in the County.

Josh

The P1 has six gears ( Five + reverse )

3,500 revs do not constitute nearly 5,500 revs.

Lick the soggy end of the rope and mind your tongue young man.

Enjoy tomorrow ( don't suppose you'll be tapping 'em up for photo jobs will you ? ).

Yex & Josh

Hope you both have a good time. I had a great time with them when they featured my STI V vs EVO VI. John Barker seemed to be as fast in the Honda HRV as he did the EVO !!.

I for one would love to know your thoughts after the day. Might no agree with them

Cheers

Jonathan

Micklethwaite.

I'm sure I'm right in saying there are only five gears, and I'm pround to say I've use nearly all of the now!

I don't think much of the fuel efficiency though. Listers filled it up when I collect the car in September, and it looks like I might have to put some in myself next month.

Josh

Neil, Did I mention that I am now the proud owner of my first speeding ticket? (they said I was going so slow that my journey time could only be measured in geological terms)
