Question

Hi All,

For the past year or so ive been telling myself that im gonna save some money until im old enough to aford and insure a *proper* scooby (im 19, so this is out of the question at the moment) but I dont think i can wait

Im sure someone must have done this so i thought id ask! How easy and roughly how expensive is it to make a 2.0 sport look roughly like a turbo?

Please say positive hopeful things

Cheers

David

What springs you got Dunk?

Could do with some , but a little broke at the moment. New exhaust comes first

Just beat me to that one......
Anyway, what do you wanna make it look like a Turbo for. Less chance to gloat about fuel consumption and being in the pub while the turbos are still waiting in the car park to turn off there engines.

The mods would be relatively cheap, but if you do it properly and inform the insurance company then your premium will probably be the same as for a turbo As stated above the Sport is a fine car. Alternatively get a 106/Saxo or something for a couple of years to get the no-claims discount, it will be worth it in the end, it will be, it will be ... repeat to fade ...

djuk,
2 years ago i "sold" my 96P sport to my dad,the pre 97 ones come with discs on back end,and same body/interior as turbo apart from bonnet when i got my turbo i gave him the standard wheels and backbox center section as i changed to 17" wheels and a stainless decat system.the exhaust will not swap over without changes,he got an exhaust specialist to macke a pipe from the end of the downpipe and conected it up to the catted center off the turbo this was made with the same type of flexy joints as the turbo and cost £90(cheap for a full pipe as i gave him the original, but anyone changing thier turbos pipe wont want too much for the original)
standard wheels likewise will cost not much more than the rubber thant is left on them,£4/500 for a set on the scoobynet.
dont bother with the bonnet, unless yoy get one cheap as the word "wally" starts to creep in if you go too far!!

hope this helps

Dan, your car is a ringer - the seats in the back have a different pattern material.

Cool

djuk- nice to see someone going the sensible route, drive something that looks nice but won't hammer you on the insurance for a year or two, then buy a turbo when you can afford to insure it with good ncd.
If you're interested you can buy my '98 turbo 16" wheels in vgc, no rubber so cheap price and the tyres will be your choice not mine.
e-mail me at l60136@hotmail.com if you're interested.

I've put a Sport badge on the back of my Turbo.
Makes sense if you think about it or is it just me ?

Anyway, minimum needed to have that 'at a glance' Spurbo:is
from the rear and from the front. ie:-
- Bigger or twin pipe backbox (I have a 99 Turbo one - offers)
- Bonnet with scoop

Why bother about the rest, including wheels, once you're on the move?
