Blue smoke when car is stationary
Hi, I have a 2003 impreza wrx sti
When the car is upto temperature, the car blows blue smoke out of the exhaust when idiling stationery , and when raving only when stationary. When at traffic lights.
Car does not smoke when accelerating / under load.
I understand this is a sign of burning oil, but any ideas if this will be from the turbo or engine/piston rings?
Thanks

Yes mate,it's quite common I think on a worn turbo.
I had it on my standard td04 and then bought a 2nd hand sti turbo and it had the same symptoms so ended up getting money back on sti turbo vf36 I think then sent my td04 off to turbo dynamics for a rebuild.
Been fine ever since.

I'll see if I can find my original thread.

Yes it was vf35....I was going down the sti turbo upgrade but went back to reconditioned td04 as the vf35 was knackered.
I actually had to take out a dispute with the seller as he denied it was a bad turbo but luckily I'd paid with PayPal and paid the fees so they gave me my money back when he received the turbo back.
