Default Exhausts & MOTs Sports Cats Yearly drama

Tuned my GC8 and Blobeye last year .... mapped with 200 cell sports cat downpipes to replace the decats.
Got the garages to do fresh MOTs ........ barely passed they said ..... who knows reallyyy !

So the game starts again ..... I need some advice.

A lot of talk here about 200 cell sports cats ......... bottom line - no guarantees with any brand.
Its really annoying to swop out downpipes for MOT.

What is the original system on a 97 Turbo2000 ?
For MOT I'm thinking of adding a cat centre section like BM catalysts BM90926 ... easier to swop
https://www.bmcatalysts.co.uk/catalo...M90926/366134/

What is the original system on a 04 Blobeye Sti ?
think this ... https://parts.subarusuperstore.com/v...ust-components
I dont know what to do here ? ..... I think I only have the original centre section 2nd cat and could fit that ...

Yes I will also use a fuel additive to clean.

Anyone found a solution to this yearly drama ?

FYI I did find this write up on Impreza exhausts

Main thing is give it a rag before the test , once they are hot they should be ok , the other bits I heard are cat cleaner or remove the air filter I've not done either of them , hot cat straight into test 👍

None of my 200 cell sports cats pass unless they are hot/warm , one year was a loose down pipe after an engine re build , but as above a possibility , my latest car I have left the standard down pipe on but you can feel the restriction when you drive it compared to a sports cat

I had an old BMW that failed with the standard cats fitted. Cat cleaner and a few miles before the test to warm it up got it through. I now have a miltek sports cat on my hatch which passes (touch wood). I'm unsure on the cell count as I bought it fitted.

Getting it hot on the day is key, mine can struggle but the tester knows what to do, if its looking bad they know how to time the test out, then rev the XXXX out of it and try again, Ive always wondered if wrapping the cat would help this, getting it hot and keeping the heat in to make the cat work better.

my FSTi sailed through every year fitted with a sports cat, with no issue and considering it did <6000miles in circa 6years regular or hard use had no bearing either!!

A hard drive immediately before the test rather than revving it at the test works the best , my Fsti and monaro went straight through after being warmed up first 👍😁 my local garage has got to know me quite well 😂😂
