Default Shims for STi Hawk rear pads?

Hi all,

My rear Brembo pads arrived today, but I have a quick shim question...

Do I use my old shims like these :

https://www.importcarparts.co.uk/par...y=&searchPart=

Or, fit the pads with these shims that came in the box? Is there really any difference?

Fair enough, do I smear a small amount of brake grease under the shim in the middle, and then where the piston pushes on it, or just where the piston pushes on it?

i cover both sides of the backing plate , make sure the fit of pad in caliper is not too tight or they get stuck , and carefully put some copper grease round the pad to caliper contact edges , subaru pads need “ refreshing “ every so often , in other words taken out re greased and put back in again , the fronts tend to be more prone to get stuck 👍😁

next time you get a set of pads , try the black diamond predator fast road pads , they work very well and are not that much , again ebc yellowstuff work well too , i have a mixture of both on mine and the brakes are much better 👍😁

Think the standard setup has both shims in place per pad.

Yes, that's what Alyn said to me earlier which I was surprised about. I haven't fitted them yet, but will also use my original old (perfect condition) directional shims aswell.

i’ve only ever used one shim and not had an issue , i would not expect it to make any difference 👍😁
