Default Any opinions about this hawk sti please

Hi all, I'm still trying to get my first scooby and I found this one

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...k-2005/4257169

I'll appreciate any opinions about this example, it's 2005 so should be in lower tax bracket but my only concern is 2.5 engine and it's common failures unless it doesn't apply to early hawks. Thanks

yes it applies to all 2005-2010 2.5 engines they seem to be a bit hit and miss.
regarding the tax it all depends on the registered date of the vehicle so i wouldnt presume just yet and in the long run its only an extra £5 a week on the tax...that equate to 20 miles of petrol so no great hardship when buying one of these cars.

Thanks for that, regarding tax I didn't look at this from this side so yes you're right
I've sent a message to seller for more details regarding any work carried out so we'll see. I'm after bloob, but if I would find decent hawk I'll probbaly go for it.

those seats are different to my hawk... on mine the actual seat is ALL blue.. maybe because its a 05 plate??

also the rear shocks knock.. so by age and mileage these should have been replaced.

you'll want to see receipts for the ecutek map and any other work carried out..

and ideally a power graph.

Personally I would avoid any hawkeye sti unless there is proof of a rebuild with forged pistons from a reputable engine tuner/builder. If you're happy going into a purchase knowing that there is risk of engine failure then all well and good, but don't go into it thinking it won't happen.

Thanks for your opinions, I'll leave it and wait for forged hawk or bloob to come up on the market

If it really does 25.9 MPG then I would go for it.

Looks like a parallel import or euro spec to me, i think they came with those seats, mine's a 55 plate and it doesn't have those and from the photo's i don't think it's got a type UK badge on the back.

I couldn't even get that in my 2.0 WRX, best ever (on a run) was 27mpg.
