You'd get a decent classic for that sort of money, but personally I'd buy something else like a VW. The lower end of the Subaru market may look appealing but you'll probably be buying a money pit.

Why not place a 'Wanted' ad on ScoobyNet?

Details are here:

https://www.scoobynet.com/payments.php

I'll assume you weren't aware that you have to pay for all adverts on here, but now you are.

Plenty of Impreza's out there on the market for £6k or less and not necessarily money pits. Shop around and buy well, based on condition and service history, not just age and mileage.

They may need general servicing and the odd repair, but you won't lose £10k+ in depreciation over 3 years like you would buying a brand new one.

Good man. If you want a subaru don't settle for anything else as it won't compare. Why don't you try to sell yours privately to squeeze a little more cash from it. Like said, you will have your pick of nice blob WRXs possibly with PPP at your price bracket. Good luck and happy hunting

That's still £500 more than the OP's max budget and he still wants to p/x and he wants a warranty
