bugeye centre console conversion

Default bugeye centre console conversion

I have just bought the Hawkeye centre console I have bugeye wagon and was wondering is it just a straight swap over was reading something about the handbrake on another post or is that the other way around??

Hi, no it's not a straight swap. I started to do it on my old blob then got fed up.
You have the DCCD switch which you won't have, also on the bug your wiingmirror controller is in/on the centre consol where as on hawk it's on the drivers side where the window switches are.
Also I found that it wouldn't sit in place so I think you 'maybe' need to make a bracket up for behind the centre console.
Also yeah handbrake needs to be switched.

Ive done it on my bug wagon with no probs as long as you have all the bits

I notice your only in Oxford mate so happy to pop over and give you a hand if you need it?

Cheers for the reply's guys I think I have all the bits I bought the conversion from scott at scoobyspares so more than likely all here the only bit I have not got is the hawk handbrake do I definitely need this?

I was hoping the old mirror switch would fit in to were the dccd switch used to be?

zx-tt that would be a good shout its just getting some free time at the min Ill get some pics up of what I have tomoz and there go from there

You need the hawk handbrake you need to remove the handbrake cable from you bug and attach it to your new hawk handbrake

I have seen this conversion done without the Hawk handbrake, however I am not sure if any modification was needed.

No it won't fit in where the DCCD switch used to be.
Yeah you need the handbrake, if you bought it as a 'conversion kit' it should have came with handbrake, id ring them back and say.
