Is this over boost????
Hello people
Ive had a pre turbo exhaust leak for some time and finally got the funds to have it fixed. I've had new headers, manifold, up pipe and all gaskets replaced. spool up seems much better, getting on to boost between 3500-4000 revs which i believe to be about right on a 1997 wrx import with ihi vf22 turbo. correct me if I'm wrong.
If I'm going steady in 3rd 4th and put my foot down boost starts to build but then seems to stall a little and engine revs continue and then turbo catches up then drops off again and so on. Is this over boost???
Looking through these forums it seems I could do with bypassing the boost solenoid to eliminate if its the waste gate thats at fault which would then prove its the boost solenoid.
Am I thinking along the right lines or have I got it wrong??
Many Thanks
Mark

Hi
Yeah I cleaned the bcs it seems a little better and I'm reaching more pressure than the wastegate would top out at if it was uncontrolled.
I'm thinking about a leaky dump valve now
Any ideas?

Ok thanks
I've changed all the vacuum hoses recently trying to find a boost leak. That all ended up with new manifold and up pipe. Coil pack and leads is somethin I haven't checked yet. Is there a way of testing them at all or is it best to just replace them
