Just a quickie how many miles to the gallon do you think my 300bhp wrx does? It's running pinkys vf35 walboro pump , decat, cossie filter ,etc? Any figures I'd appreciate I drive it half tame and half playful!

Cos I want to compare it to a bigger engined car ! Why bother commenting if it ain't for giving input!

 

It's a complete guess... why not just fill it reset the trip and drive. When you have done a good amount of driving refill and see how many liters you used then work out your MPG.

 

Oh yeah and the fact it's an every day driver ! So would like to know as the sti on same year claims 27 mpg which I reckon is bull **** unless your in 5th at 60 mph the whole
Time!!!!

its a good question, worth asking to check you are getting roughly the right MPG for the mods and car you have. Can be an indicator of something not running right.

Ignore the tw@ts that think MPG is a swear word.

There is no real answer to this question, because no one will have an exact like for like car as you (even wheels and tyres can affect MPG), drive on the same roads, or have the same driving style as you.

I was interested in the same when i was new here, and realised most people with the mods you have on a bug tend to get between 200-300 miles to a full take of 99ron fuel.

If you want to get more MPG from your car, it would be worth speaking to a good mapper and tuner

 

Because anyone who's asks about mpg from a subaru, obviously bought the wrong car!

Mpg depends on how you drive the car the more time you are on boost the more fuel you use!

 

Car is mapped by race dynamics !!!!!!! I reckons ( just a guess) I reckon be lucky to see 15-18mpg

I have a 2006 Hawk WRX doing roughly 275-280bhp on stock turbo.

I average around 19-20mpg round town. 200 ish miles till fuel light goes on. BUT fuel gauge is really out on mine. never got more than 48 litres in it even with driving in the red for 30+ miles.
did a run to the coast for a holiday few weeks back and worked out to be 28mpg average on the motorway.

So really does prove it depends how they are driven and probably the roads you drive on.

 

Thanks fuzz for some grown up input ! I'd say mine cruising would do over 20 mpg I wonder if that 6th gear helps in the sti!

Mpg is dependent on how the car is driven as well as the mods!
A 400 bhp car won't use hardly anymore fuel off boost as a 300 bhp one.

I know I may get flamed for this but I think the 2.5 engine is nicer to drive day to day. no need to rev it as much as the 2.0 due to slightly more torque lower down?
I guess AVCS could also be a factor in the torque lower down the revs.

Bloke I know with a classic who has gone to a 2.5 when his engine blew up and he prefers it over the 2.0

Maybe the fact you have to rev it less helps the economy?

 

The 2.0 sti has avcs too, but the 2.5 is a lazier easy drive,shame it explodes every few months

 

depends who built it

mine got 35mpg on a long run and roughly 25 normaly, single digits when given it the full banana, but it was nigh on 400 horse

My experience.

My 2004 wrx (mapped to 280 bhp) over a 3 month period of mixed motorway/ town driving averaged out to 28 mpg according to my dash command app.

Motorway driving i would get 40 miles per £10 of v-power at 75ish mph.

My stock 2004 sti (275 bhp) over a 4 week period on same roads averaged out at 24 mpg according to dash command.

Motorway driving i would get 30-35 miles per £10 of v-power at 75ish mph.

My 2004 Sti now with bigger turbo and injectors at around 400bhp is doing a hell of a lot less even at similar motorway speeds and now at even lower revs i cant get more than 25 miles from £10 of fuel. My current average mpg according to dash command is 12 mpg !!! Its only been running this power for 2 weeks though so im sure the average will go up after a while lol.

I think the 5 speed and the 6 speed have the same final drive ratio so no real help.

 

Yep I know the STi has had AVCS from about 2002. BUT the original question was MPG on a WRX not an STi.

Had mine 12 months now and no signs of blowing up. Just general scaremongering.. The issue seems to be with the last shape impreza and not the Hawk.

 

Utterly wrong its the impreza from 2006 onwards that has the issues the 2.0 is fine

 

I do a 30mile round trip to work and back every day. 15 miles of stop start traffic in the morning, but I finish late and the roads are pretty clear and safe, that's when I really have fun :-) most of the route is on a 3 lane A road, which has 2 tunnels

My bug wagon with a ported vf35, STI tmic, pinks, etc. Gives me between 250-270 to a full tank of 99ron fuel.

My old bug saloon WRX with vf34, light weight wheels, brakes good tyres and FMIC, used to give me 300 on a full tank all the time.

I've had a few maps from Racedynamix, including the 300 miles to a tank map, he's a nice guy, but his maps seem to be a little hit and miss for me.

You should speak to Rich from FBTuning about a map and sorting your MPG, he did my last map and power delivery with MPG have been great. He will be able to advice you other ways to make the power more efficiently.

Good thing about Rich is that as well as doing the mapping side of things, he also understands the mechanics side of things too.

 

Best idea would be to have esl, run 2 maps one for economy and other for performance, other option is LPG

That would be shocking. My WRX averages 30-40mpg depending on how I drive.

Obviously if I drove to Asda and back without coming off boost it'd be around 6-18.

I continually monitor my AFR's and MPG to know everything is as it should be.

I went from Birstall to Durkar after the fitment of a less restrictive cat and recorded 40.5mpg

I won't stop until I can get 50mpg. I think it can be done with work on the parasitics and some more weight saving options.
