Obviously I've added weight and a fraction of drag from a few choice stickers.

My 2002 STi with PPP (300 bhp) used to get 19-21 mpg.

I'd like to know why the standard Blob STI is recorded as doing 25mpg and the stock WRX 30mpg.

Someone once said it was solely because of the gearbox but I can't see how that would be a factor other than its heavier.

Because it runs more power and a different turbo and gearbox and avcs heads!
To feed the vf35 it has larger injectors which therefore feed more fuel to the larger turbo which has an impact on mpg

I'm talking about daily driving figures not track days.

I've moved to pink injectors, STI turbo, 225bhp to 300bhp and I'm seeing better MPG - so we are back at the gearbox again. Or heads.

I'm getting about 25mpg from the same spec car,but only a 6 mile drive to work and back so off boost most of the time and will no doubt get less mpg in the winter months.

Please let it snow this winter.

Obviously if I drove to Asda and back without coming off boost it'd be around 6-18.

I continually monitor my AFR's and MPG to know everything is as it should be.

I went from Birstall to Durkar after the fitment of a less restrictive cat and recorded 40.5mpg

I won't stop until I can get 50mpg. I think it can be done with work on the parasitics and some more weight saving options.
If I fed my granny slim fast for 6 months I doubt she would see 50mpg

Blob WRX PPP was averaging around 28mpg mostly town driving with the odd squirt at the lights and 36mpg on a run @ between 70/80mph with the odd squirt, I never let it go below qtr and the most fuel I have ever managed to get in it was 34ltrs and regularly do between 220/260 miles when cruising. figures a bit screwed as I now just fill it up once a week and that's usually £25/30 worth unless I'm whoring about and having some fun. I'm out in the sticks so only getting about 20/23mpg max these days. If I can be arsed to work it out as I only pay attention when i'm on a long run, other than that I don't do loads of miles day to day, probably only drive it 2/3 times a week so fuel consumption is not an issue.

Sti is heavier and got that silly wing on the back so increased drag, which is why they are driven by blokes with small d!cks and drag queens.

I never fill mine over 1/4!!!

I suppose the STI has up to 90kg more weight, keener ratios, more drag from boot spoiler, scoop and spats. Am I right in thinking wheel diameter comes into play?

Yep. If you're getting around 170-180 miles off £40 as I expect you are then you're pushing just under 30mpg.

I've got an STI, 330+bhp.
Full tank of Super gets me around 220/250miles in mixed driving..

I always find good wheel bearing grease helps with the rolling resistance and improves mpg, worth changing every few months.

The original question was 'how much do you think it does?', not how, why, what should it be.

28 mpg.

Possibly your amazing MPG (from the new ARB etc) might be in fact due to the amount of hot air you blow! We all now it's less dense so therefore rises, it could be that the bs that spurts from your mouth actually makes your car float a little

That won't be because of the bhp increase.
It could be due to the increase in torque though.

Poodling around here my car's in 5th probably far more times (and longer) than anyone else. (Bear in mind it's also lighter than an STi).
Lower revs compensates a bit for increased fuel flow etc.

(Still only get 21-22 though but can get 24-25 on a motorway run).

Add to that bigger, stickier tyres with more friction. I think it all adds up.

Yeah another good call. Cooler engine temps too from the larger IC. I guess this keeps oil slightly thicker as a by product.

Keep talking! I'll prove you all wrong! My engine certainly proved the experts wrong!

Fluctuating between 32-40mpg at the moment but big plans afoot...

I reckon I could get 50mpg out of mine - if I coasted down the longest hill we have in my locality (about a 3-miler) and carried on for as far as my momentum allowed.

How much fuel/sec does a 353bhp machine do on tickover?
