Some silly cow crashed into me last week and estimate is more than I payed for it so I imagine it's getting written off how much is it worth?? It's a 2004 wrx wagon sl spec full Subaru history and just had belt and water pump done rally blue std apart from exhaust 77k I'm pissed to say the least but if I get offered £3000 I will be even more so thanks for your help jody

 

First thing to do is get one of the accepted expert guides (Glasses etc.) and find out its valuation.

Then add or subtract as they say re. mileage etc.

The condition of the car will be the most difficult.

• When was it MoT'd - a recent MoT is clear proof of its roadworthiness and to a certain extent how good it was mechanically (CO emissions etc);
• Condition of tyres;
• Amount of Tax left;
• Bills for work done (and which will not be needed for some time eg. how many miles on the clutch?)

This should give you a figure that you would advertise it at if you were selling it.

Check for similar cars in dealerships, car sales and good sites such as PH (and of course SN).

Use those prices to support your valuation.

Get printed copies of all of these.

When the offer comes through if it's too low hit the company with what you've got, pointing out that given the instances and ads you've found your car is certainly worth whatever.

You have to be recompensed for your loss, and in an extreme case you'd take it to Court and have to prove that your claim was solid. So you have to get as much info as possible to persuade the insurance company that your valuation is fair.

I haven't said how much it's worth, because I don't know what work's been done etc.

Can I suggest that you work out a figure, then post on here and see what people say?

Thanks for the replies I payed £4700 it was 100% mint I looked for ages before buying this one it has new tyres all round new tax this month sti front and rear bumpers with the genuine winglets I have just fitted four new struts a sports cat and sti up pipe

How bad is the damage? Could you get an agreed amount for repairs and source used parts and repair it?

Not ideal I know, but just thinking of other options.

I'm using an accident management company and driving round in a £25k merc c220 maybe they make a good first offer to get it sorted as quick as possible and get me out of the hire car ??? Not sure don't really care

 

Be careful the "accident management company" dont deduct car hire charges from your final figure, that Merc could be an expensive toy...

 

Years ago i crashed a my Corsa paid £2500, insurance offered me roughly £1900 year after bought it, said no and sent them prove of cars for sale higher than 1900 with same spec they offered me 2200 i excepted

 

I use mcams and they are great all it does is speed everything up the car hire will be claimed from the third party

Won’t happen. They will recover the charges from the At Fault insurer. Credit Hire is a big business and the insurer (if they are even remotely competent) will have a team to deal with the accident management company and settle the hire invoice.

 

Exactly that. It's cheaper to make an a good offer and settle quicker than let £100-£200 a day hire charges keep going.
